Change Your Existing Microsoft Account to a Local Account in Windows 11 (And Vice Versa)

Показать описание
If you need to have a local account in Windows 11 but don't want to create an additional account, you can easily convert your existing Microsoft account to a local account in just a few steps. This process will leave you with just one account and if you need to change it back to a Microsoft account, you can simply reverse the process. If your Microsoft account was an administrator type account, your local account will be created as a local admin as well.

Here is how you create an additional local account in Windows 11 if that is what you are looking for.

Here is a writeup of the process on our website.

Thanks! My PC had Windows 11 preinstalled with a local account and, when I received it, I logged into my Microsoft account, so I had a local account with the separate Microsoft login added later. After searching for over an hour I finally found your video and the Accounts>Your info>Account settings option which was showing something about automatically signing in to Microsoft apps, so I toggled it and was able to log into my Microsoft account instead of the local account that was preinstalled without a password.

On Windows 10 I can click stop signing in everywhere and it converts back to Local, if I click "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead" it will convert back to that. (meaning, I didn't have to create another account)

Thank you I appreciate the video, only one minor question that wasn’t covered, Do you lose any data switching to local account?

There’s no longer an option for creating a local account. Microsoft must have removed it with an update or something. I will be returning my PC for a Mac

I logged into my laptop with my student account as a Microsoft account, and now there is no way for me to switch to a regular user. There is no setting for me to sign in as a local user. I can't create a new account and then delete this one because I have so much in this account. It's annoying. Can you please help me?
