When you press the button, electric current flow through the wire coil placed inside the plastic transparent partition at the bottom.

This current induces a magnetic field within the coil. The magnetic field within the coil affects the aluminium and forms another magnetic field within the ring. This newly induced second magnetic field is in opposite direction to the other one, decreasing its strength. This phenomenon is known as Lenz's Law.
