Its a wrong depiction. We loose electrons and not gain. By coming in contact with carpet he is loosing electron that means he should have more protons that electrons which makes him positively charged. While the door nobe is neutral when a positively charged body touches it, it tries to make the body neutral by sending the electrons. Thus flow of electrons happen. Electricity = flow of electrons
