As jeffs niece thank u for covering his story. The bullets retrieved from my uncles body matched those bullets found in ashleys home but were conveniently lost during a police station move!! We have never in the 43 years received any justice or closure as a family. The only closure we have is that he is back in the uk where he belongs. Xx

I grew up on the Gold coast in the early 80's. The stranger danger that was grilled into us as kids at school and home, the true crime like this that was going on as I was growing up... Safe to say I have legitimate anxiety left over from growing up in this kind of fear. Australia was a wildly dangerous place in the 80's. Everything was trying to kill us.

Balaklava and Mr. Cruel both have stopped doing their crimes after they murdered someone. Both of them tend to be apologetic (from what I remember Mr. Cruel was accomodating to his victims, as in keeping them fed and nurtured) It might be that he just switched places.

Lets hope the real killer is now in prison and the fact that the murders abruptly stopped when Ashley was arrested indicates that it may well be him so hopefully that is the case

These crimes are unimaginably terrible. I hope the poor victims were strong because how horrendous would that be on their relationships. Cruel is the right word.

The stupid apology probably made it much worse. It's sad that the victims didn't get the justice they deserve. I can only imagine the trauma of knowing he's still out there.

For some reason I find it more terrifying that he showed a level of empathy, yet he was still able to do these horrible things as opposed to being a full on psychopath. Very strange.
