Our IT only allows for a modified version of teams on our computers. If you thought regular teams was bad, letting an IT department get ahold of it made it so much worse.

Chat: "You're expecting iOS to work like android"
Linus: "No, I'm expecting iOS to work how iOS USED to work"

As a former Senior Advisor at Apple, Car Play has long had issues. The problem is that support is foisted onto the car dealerships. I always went out of my way to help Car Play users, by setting up a screen share to their phone, opening the camera app, & pointing it at the car’s infotainment system, because I knew they wouldn’t get anywhere if they went to the car dealer, like we were told to tell them.

Microsoft hires Luke to the Teams dev team... 6 months later everyone is using Teams instead of Discord.

Q: "... but how many people do these things often?"
A: "Nobody. Nobody does them often. You do them 1 time so that your phone works really well for you."

THAT was the best response, and is 100% how the folks over at Apple refuse to think. Their whole idea is that if it's not a frequently poked-at feature, then it's not as useful. It seems to me that they want you to poke-and-prod at your device (their version of "interact") as much as possible in spite of the logistics of doing so. It's why I do not like using my work iOS phone and prefer to do everything on my Android.

Only forty minutes ranting about the shortcomings of iOS? That's some impressive restraint!

Back during the iPhone 6 era, you could buy screen protectors that basically added a touch spots beside the home button that when you press them, would press the top left and right of the screens where back and menu buttons usually were in apps. They essentially added a back and menu keys via a screen protector. That's cool and all, but since there's no chin for the touch sensitive areas to go, you can't do that anymore, obviously.

So many of these complaints would single-handedly be complete deal breakers for me.

The stupidest take is "uuhhh if we add all these amazing ease of life features it'll be android"....

Well, that argument names android elite. And all you gotta do is make them able to be turned off. It's not that hard. Extra free shit and control. Provided you can turn it off. Can never be bad.

The 1st thing I do on every Pixel is go to the dev menu and accelerate. The animation speeds.
Window animation scale .5x
Transition animation scale .5x
Animator duration scale .5x

I feel the need. The need for speed.

"not allowed" is such an Apple thing

the take that "you want less options" is mind boggling to me.

The thing about hiding features, specially under accessibility, 100% feels to me like intra-company wars. Engineers specs and find a way to get the phone down to 1 nit, but someone from design decided that "this range is the most comfortable/healthy for your eyes across a multitude of light intensities so this is what we will use for the iphone", or maybe they just have beef with whoever was pushing for that feature, and then the guys behind the low dim feature manage to squeeze that feature through public testing, they get a positive feedback and use that to push the feature into the final project, but then design (or whoever was bitching before) pushes back harder and it eventually passes as an "accessibility feature".

22:06 Android can not only shove it to one side, but split it down the middle so you aren't reaching across your phone with one hand to get to the keyboard when typing dual handed.

2:20 "Historically, it was believed that the gene for baldness was inherited mainly from the mother's side, as the X chromosome carries a significant gene related to hair loss. However, more recent research shows that genes from both the mother and father contribute to the likelihood of developing baldness. So, if there is a family history of hair loss on either side, it increases the chances of inheriting that trait."

7:00 Another reason that I can think of that may have caused Linus to get used to the landscape orientation having the top of the phone on the left side and the bottom on the right side is because that is the default landscape orientation at least for Android, when auto-rotate is locked to portrait and/or the "Sensors Off" developer setting is enabled when the phone is on a flat surface.
Also at 40:52 it was originally what Luke was theorizing, with notifications being on the left/center and control center being on the right, but Apple never updated those areas after the notch shrunk/turned into an island, so it seems unintuitive.

Scroll accelerates if you just giv'er. For individual apps with ads, the developer did that on purpose to make you see the ads to 'take them in'.
