This simulation shows the impact of a 3BM42 "Mango" APFSDS-T with Tungsten Alloy penetrator being fired from a Russian T-72B tank at a range of 1.4km, targeting the front side of a German Leopard 2AV hull.
The Leopard 2AV was a prototype tank developed by Krauss-Maffei in the 1970s as a potential replacement for the Leopard 1, which was the main battle tank of the German Army at that time. The "AV" in its name stands for "Austere Version", which means it was designed to be a simplified and less expensive variant of the Leopard 2.
Despite its promising design, the Leopard 2AV was not selected for production by the German Army. Instead, they opted for the Leopard 2A1, which was a more advanced version of the tank with improved armor, a more powerful engine, and a 120mm gun.
