A-10 Thunderbolt Vs T-72B #shorts

In this simulation, a scenario in which A-10 Thunderbolt II firing
a 30mm x 173 PGU-14/B on the front side of T-72B hull. The PGU-14/B is an armor piercing incendiary (API) round has a lightweight body which contains a sub-calibre high density penetrator of Depleted Uranium (DU). As shown in the simulation the PGU-14/B barley damage the T-72B.

I understand how you meant it to look like, but it looks completely weird. A-10 angle of attack is different from the 30mm shell trajectory. But simulation itself is good. 30mm shouldn’t pen any MBTs frontal armor except leopard 1 (and perhaps leo would also stop it).

To begin with, the GAU-8 30mm cannon spits out around 200 rounds in a 3 second burst. These rounds would strike everywhere, including the thin top armor (depending on angle of attack), the optics, the radio antenna, the main gun tube, the roadwheels, the engine deck and much more. All of these area are vulnerable to damage from the 30mm rounds fired by the GAU-8. These hits would very likely incapacitate or destroy the vehicle.

This doesn’t take into account the sheer volume of fire which is much more realistically intended to cause a mission kill by the destruction or damage of other components on the tank. The same 30mm can easily destroy the tank’s main gun, viewports, wheels, treads, antenna equipment, and so on.

Unfortunately for the T72 it was ment to defeat the top turret armor not the frontal armor.

Misses the point of an aerial attack. The frontal armor is meant to defend against a tank’s main gun ammunition, which is many times more powerful than the A10’s 30mm. Those rounds are intended for the roof & engine deck.

Going to remind everyone they already did a weapons test and live fire on a T-62 and a M48. In the test the A10 was striking the top of both tanks ans in both tests it was unable to penetrate either tanks

Also let's not forget the rounds per minute.. things like your optics, view ports, maybe your track/road wheels, era, any external antennas, etc. would be badly damaged if not completely destroyed. Maybe get real lucky and damage/destroy the turret ring or the rear deck (radiator, coolant lines, fans, etc.)

A 30mm stafe will destory all the era protection of the tank. Will damage the countermeasures launchers and radars. After the attack, the tank will be more vulnerable .
