Why the EA APP is a MAJOR Problem (Still)

While there was good news for sims 4 patches, updates and bug fixes, electronic arts games all continue to be impacted by the ea app not working, crashing, missing library/ dlc packs and more. And with a focus on live services, apps and launches alike poses problems for future games.

Previous Video about Sims 4 Bug Fixes:
This was unexpected news! The sims 4 announced a new team to work on base game improvements, broken gameplay, packs and even major issues like the sims 4 crashing. Plus, there's a brand new laundry list for sims 4 including fixes for packs like: for rent, dine out, cottage living, high school years, growing together, and more.

Could this be because of pressure from sims competitors like life by you, inzoi or paralives? maybe, maybe not- but let's hope this is a better year for sims 4 content, sdx and patches.

The EA app also has an issue logging users out randomly, and constantly making them check off that they've read the updates TOS. Which I've read, and says as you play a game with online features EA will run a program that functions basically as spyware. Its to reduce cheating, hacking, and harassment among players, but could be scary if that software isn't properly implemented.

EA App should have never been forced on us until they got all the issues fixed.

After all the issues I had with Origin during The Sims 3 era this was exactly why I didn't want them to tie playing games to their app with no option to play without it.

For whatever reason EA just can't make a solid, stable, well functioning app. Then again, they have similar problems with most of their games so it's not much of a surprise.

They need to do something ASAP! I am so sick and tired of having to restart the dang app just to get it to work DAILY! Like why should I have to do that to play sims 4

Shortly after installing the EA app after Origin, my MacBook Pro randomly had a pink hue on the screen after being idle for a while (on but closed). I restarted and it was fine for a while when using my browser, but then after opening Sims 4 and entering gameplay it flashed pink and shut down… my MacBook is brand new and I am VERY careful with CC & mods, flag for viruses prior to downloading etc etc.

Since updating everything this hasn’t occurred again, but it is still really concerning…

I hope EA can sort themselves out soon. They have such potential to be dominating the market, but they fall short every time😢

It's so good to see more people talking about EA bad company habits and disregard for quality. I think this is a larger problem in the U.S. with most major corporations having tunnel vision on "growth" and profit, which results in them prioritizing their expenditures into aggressive marketing instead of fixes, job fulfillment and accountability. We've seen EA cut spending on job positions (remember last year's EA layoffs?), talk about utilizing AI where they can, shrink costs by thinning their products and selling them piecemeal, leave bugs unfixed in their games and apps, no customer service so there's no accountability, and market, market, market with more and more in-game ads, the shopping cart, and sales every other month.

Make no mistake, their new "fix-it" team is just a renewing of the QA people they got rid of years ago and they make a big announcement acting like they're doing us a favor when they never should have gotten rid of them in the first place. They know how to manipulate and care absolutely nothing for their products except for how much money they rake in. It's downright gross and unethical.

Thank goodness there is finally, FINALLY a bunch of competition on the horizon. My theory is, when Grant Rodiek (who was with them for 20 years) recently abandoned Project Rene to do his own simulation game, they finally realized the sea of sewage they were wading in from their own bullcrap and now, nearly 10 years later, they're trying to backtrack to plug a broken dam with a band-aid.

Battlenet has been around for years and years. There's issues with login servers into Battlenet on every big release but that's about it. Nothing like EA App where stuff disappears. Does bug out rarely and you can't see your friend list but it gets fixed in less than a day. But bear in mind not only is Battlenet over a decade old, but it has far less games than EA App.

I've strangely not run into too many issues with EA App that aren't fixed with a restart other than it not giving an explanation why the app doesn't launch when I'm logged into multiple locations.

'Still a problem' sums up EA and so many of the other major publishers. The title of worst gaming company has become irrelevant, it changes every week, they're grouped together as 'one of the worst'. All this time and the app seems to be getting worse, not better. Thankfully, EA have very little that appeals to me and I can do without the couple of things that do appeal.
That statement from EA is nothing more than corporate speak and the investor day will be nothing more than that. It's just what they say to keep the shareholders happy and to back up their doubling down on live services. They all claim to be industry leaders despite the issues they all have.

We often talk about things of this nature being a gaming problem with many companies. It's all part and parcel of an ongoing problem in our society at large. It's all about end-stage capitalism: the companies are so focused on making money that the customers they supposedly are trying to attract are no longer considered important. It's so frustrating!

People say "We should boycott the game (or whatever product is in question)!" But the number of people who hear about a boycott is so small in number that the companies don't notice (or if they do, they write those people off as "Oh, well. We're doing well enough without them.")

Sims 4 was gone because my subscription had ended, the app said. It's not a big loss these days, but a funny error message since I haven't had an EA subscription for years.

It keeps telling me to update it every time I turn on my computer. It goes through the cycle and then I have a short window to get it to run the sims. But it crashes a lot however it doesn’t stop my game from running since I have it in Steam as well. Hope you are having a great day and hopefully these horrible storms stop for a while. My fire radio has been going off constantly warning us of storms and tornado watches 😅 I live by Pittsburgh Pa and we never had this many tornado alerts in the past few years

every single time i start running the app i have to log in even though i shouldn't have to or i have to agree to the terms and conditions, it's so so so annoying. my game also crashed twice on the same day when i was placing lots to my savefile from the map view. that never happened before. the ea app and the whole sims gallery is so messy and bugged.

Is it weird that my only major issue is being signed out without my consent?

I had one issue once. Claiming ts4 wasn't installed. Logged out, and restarted my computer to fix this. I think the app is like ts4; not everyone is getting an issue, but it seems like a few glitches are more common for the app vs ts4. I don't think EA can fix the app. They have to make a bew one which they won't. At least for many years. Well actually even if they do, probably won't matter since Origin was a disaster but not like the EA spp.
Typical customer service; some people are helpful and some hate their job.
You're right Erin, I'm early but i think most comments eill be because EA only cares about money, everyone stop supporting them.

I have a friend that really has trouble with the EA app, simply because he doesn't really speak english and the app isnt available in Dutch. Origin used to be available in Dutch, the sims itself is.
So yeah, languages one of the things they decided to cut costs on.
This makes it even worse that they force this app on you.

Dutch may not be a widespread language, but the Netherlands is a pretty big gaming country. But customer care is not in their vocab.

I can attest I use a pc and my launcher is constantly crashing. I’ve also had titles disappear but they always come back.

I would count how many times I got the “can’t connect to servers please restart the app” message; but we’d be here for years.
