I started at 21 and by the time i was 25, I was two times state gold medalist. Won my 1st when i was 23, second in 25.
Please, don't let age stop you. TRY IT. JUST TRY IT.
Ken Norton started when he was 24 and beat Muhammad Ali... GIVE IT A SHOT.

You’re never too old. The only problem is the older you get the harder it gets. If you want to do it, do it. It’s up to you.

I'm 60 and I can't find any other 60 year old to take me on, I'm not bragging, I just don't understand why their is not another 60 year old some where in the world to step up

I am turning 32 this month, but I been training since I was 20 and running 7 miles to 10 miles a day since and even participated in a boxing gym with real professionals for 4 years and got my ass kicked everyday and got sharp just by showing up every day. I’m talking about face busted in black eye talking about “let’s get it” so I know I have the “never give up mentality “ and one thing I learned about myself is that even if guys had more experience it didn’t matter because I was faster and relentless and destroy you before me. Literally starving and hungry even cleaned the gym after hours to pay my gym fees. Going in to a boxing gym or any combat sport takes your mind to a dark place a radiant abyss where men meet themselves

I’m 22 years old, I started about 5-6 months ago. The first day I went to the gym, I sparred (I had already trained other combat sports, been in street fights and been teaching myself the technique through YouTube) and my coach looked at me and told me ‘you can be champ one day’. And every since then I haven’t looked back, getting ready to have my first amateur match. Mind you guys, I have always excelled at sports. I was a 3 sport athlete and went on to play college ball. With that being said, I still feel fresh. I workout about 5-6 days a week and I’ve picked the sport up fairly quickly. Just do it. Everything seems like a long shot until you’re in there really doing it. Then it starts to feel like you’re unstoppable. Good luck to everybody, the next world champion IS in these comments somewhere 🥊

Too many people are overthinking this and making up obstacles because of when others started training. Most athletes that retire or stop competing at the same level do that because they are worn down from all of the years of training and competing, not because of their age. And don't judge you're abilities after you're sore all of the time when you just start or just return to training because that happens to everyone at any age.

if you put your heart and soul in boxing then age is just a number

At 55, I’ve been training for 40+ years. I still feel lightning quick and am sure I hit harder than ever. But I don’t recover as quickly from a workout. Where I could train six days a week twenty years ago, I now find it takes me two days to recover fully. If you want to compete, go for it! The years fly by so get off your butt and do it.

Started training at 38. Won my masters debut that year. I'm 40 now and I spar with 20yr olds. A couple guys that just got their pro cards. Not saying I whoop them, but I belong in the ring with them. Wish I would have fallen in love with the sport sooner.

Bernard Hopkins went pro at 28 and retired at 51.look at his legacy !👌can’t tell me age is a factor when it’s not !some people can still feel young etc at 35 and still be moving like they in they 20’s like manny pac!hes 40 and still move like he 25.people just wanna down other people to make them think they can’t become a boxer just because of the age start ..if age mattered in boxing the people that started at 20 something wouldn’t have did it if they thought they age mattered …I started at 26 years old I just turned 27.and will be going amateur this year or might just skip amateur cause I believe in myself and what I was gifted at all this time !My idol sugar ray Robinson inspired me !he the reason why I do this and he the reason I don’t give a fuck what nobody says !

This is nuanced, realistic and motivating at the same time. Thanks! I'm 25 and will pick it up soon and try to win a local fight once :)

im 41 started learning 4-5 years ago, took me about 2-3 years just to learn footwork and technique. I have sparred a few times my first spar i got bloodied up. Now its just for fitness and staying in shape. If your starting out from my exp learn all the fundamentals of footwork and technique before you even get in the ring and find a trainer that genuinely wants to help, i went through a bunch of trainers before i found the right one. Some trainers just want to use you for money.

This is what I tell people that try to say you’re too old or you’re never too old to be a boxer or MM a fighter: if you can join the military in your 20s and early 30s, run up and down the hills and get shot at, can definitely do close combat, then you can be a professional boxer in your 20s and 30s
