BINGO! Just what I needed to know. This makes life a lot easier than trying to align different layers manually. I use layouts like this to teach English. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the great tutorial! The montage feature works well, especially when using the Horizontal Array option.
Quick question:
Let's say I wanted to make groups of 6 images instead of throwing all of them into one montage- would I have to only add those layers inside the GIMP project that I want in that single frame? The description of the tool says that there should be a way to select certain layers on the left, but it looks like that's not an option anymore. I tried using the Array [Regular] feature, but it just repeated the same image 6 times. Is there a way to select certain layers that are applied at a time? If not, no big deal, I can just add certain images I want into the GIMP project and just use the "All" option.

Ultimately, my goal is to take a bunch of these montage layers and make them into a GIF. I have 36 images and want to display 6 at a time in a 2x3 grid format.

Again, thanks for the great work!

Edit: I just clicked on David's profile page and it shows that he's a research scientist. I'm trying to make this GIF for my own research presentation, haha.
Shift clicking the layers before going into G'MIC doesn't seem to work. It still just uses the one layer that I last clicked on, the one indicated with a darker grey color.

Edit again: I think I found a kinda working solution. Just unclick the eye icon from whatever you don't want selected and select All-Visible in the option menu in G'MIC. This way, I can choose which layers to go into the montage utilizing the visibility toggle.

I loved the video, thanks a lot. Is it possible to adjust the size of the layer to A4, in order to print it on one page?
