Secret Hall in DERINKUYU Underground City Discovered

Показать описание
When you explore the ancient underground city of Derinkuyu, you will notice that MANY entrances and tunnels have been closed or blocked by stones, brick walls, debris or metal grills.

This is because only about 15% of Derinkuyu is open for visitors while the rest remains closed for public

It is also estimated that there are another 400-600 rooms in the deeper levels which have not been excavated yet.

We were already about to leave the underground city when we noticed that one of the metal grills was not in place.

What an invitation!!!

We went down the narrow dark tunnel to see what's down there

What we found was a big hall with a stairs leading to an artificial stone wall and more tunnels leading into the underworld

Did you know that there is also a tunnel, connecting Derinkuyu to the nearby underground city of Kaymakli?

To decide to live in the bottoms of earth you're probably trying to shield yourself from something extremely frightening

how did they get oxygen down there? I went into one of the Pyramid’s of Giza and almost passed out from lack of oxygen. So many tourists down there.

How do you not get lost? I’d get lost and start freaking out. There is a maze at my local museum and I took my daughter in so she didn’t have to do it alone. We got lost, I started freaking out, and literally broke out some back door hyperventilating 🤣 but I wanna explore stuff like this so bad lol

What's cool is no supports. That must've been a lot of work to dig, let alone remove the burden

Also Cappadocia 🇹🇷. There are so many underground cities around. It leaves one wondering about its original ancient inhabitants that created them.

This is incredible
I was thinking, how amazing it would be if the same technology to explore the Pyramid of Giza in 3D was used to this closed places too
They have so much history that should be explored by everyone at least virtually

How tall were the original inhabitants? Why a subterranean city instead of above ground?
