Marvel at the immense scale of these ant-like metropolises, with hundreds of intricately carved rooms that lie hidden beneath the earth. Archaeologists have struggled to decipher their purpose and origins, relying only on the objects left behind for dating. Join the discussion as Graham Hancock presents a compelling theory: these subterranean marvels may have served as shelters during periods of catastrophic meteor bombardment, such as the Younger Dryas. Discover why these cities could have provided refuge, offering protection from celestial threats rather than human armies. Uncover the fascinating narrative behind these enigmatic underground cities and their potential role in ancient survival strategies.

We should all learn the difference between facts and opinions.

Couldn't they have been built in order to maintain comfortable temperatures year round. Very efficient

"Archeology doesn't have a good explanation..." yes because they require evidence before claiming to know. Until then, they say, "we don't know, and need to do more research." Unlike some, who have never learned to do research and who claim to know without requiring evidence...

Underground cities like Derinkuyu in Nevşehir province, have existed since the 700's. They are connected to other underground cities. Their main purpose was to shelter the inhabitants of surrounding cities during times of war.

Refuge is good for longer than a couple of weeks! I miss that sense of comfort during wild storms in my earth-sheltered home. Looking out of the window during a straight-line storm and marveling at the 150-year-old trees blowing straight parallel to the earth, yet feeling not a breath of breeze, was amazing.

Easier to dig out than mine stone, shape it then build a structure

Did you just say making bases underground is not a good strategy for war? Meanwhile in Vietnam 1967...

He always says archaeology does not have a good explanation of what they are there for....then he always claims to be super intelligent and have all these ideas. Do you really not think these were made to stay cooler....I mean seriously...it seems like an obvious common sense.purpose that is likely why they chose that route. It's hot up top in summer and freezing during winter. Down there it stays a certain temperature.

Turkey was a region that endured tons of violence throughout several centuries under different empires and political regimes, wars and famines. It’s not a wonder to me that the people there would want to borrow for safety.

I might be wrong but didn't Turkey/Istanbul go through multiple takeovers throughout history the Prussian times and before. I think we need to take a better look at Turkey and the areas surrounding.

Living underground under the threat of an invading army is exactly what the Vietnamese did against the americans, and id say they did pretty well

Really interesting how many people are almost hostile to this mans ideas. To me its pretty simple, theyre ancient bunkers which provide protection from surface level threats. Threats can range from temperature to more kinetic events. Dont see why people are so hostile to this. I even think its possible they hid in them from enemies. I dont see how all these ideas cant work together lol

Where is the evidence of the repeated meteor bombardment? If it happened with such frequency there should be evidence…..
