I'm from India and my family has always used ghee for cooking... I do use coconut oil and olive oil, but not to cook with. Ghee is just so delicious... yum.

Great video, Kait! I reserve olive oil for salads, butter for topping veggies and sometimes steak, and use mostly lard or tallow for frying. I always love the detail you put into all of your videos. It's interesting and very helpful. I've been a fan for a while now. Keep up the good work!

McDonald's used to cook their fries in tallow. They changed to vegetable oil in the early 70s (I think) because of the "scare" about saturated fat being bad for the heart.

Hi! Hey! I don't want to be long winded, so I will speak in generalities. I now just use eevo, avocado oil and ghee. What I use depends on what I am cooking, as some things are better with eevo (Middle Eastern dishes or frying bell peppers & onions), some with ghee (Indian dishes) and some with the avocado oil (hamburger steak, chicken). It all depends, just use a reliable brand of any of these and you're fine. Take it easy and update us on your injuries.

Coconut mixed with butter or ghee.. chicken & bacon fat sometimes.. have a hard time finding tallow.. use mct for salad dressing also

So if you're trying to avoid saturated fats as well as poly-unsatured fats/omega 6 overload while also retaining a high smoking point to allow for deep frying, you are left with no cooking oil at all to work with, except perhaps avocado oil.

You didn't mention avocado oil, I use that, butter, and bacon grease. What's the scoop on avocado oil, I read it withstands heat very well
