It does stand to reason that it's better to reach a settlement. On a meta note, I just recently found your channel and googled to learn more about you. I think you're a top-drawer person, and it's been a pleasure watching you preside.

I'm delving into a second read of Akhil Reed Amar's two works on the subject of the constitution, and also trying to study our judicial system in a more in-depth way. I'm 65 and retired, and this is just for my own edification. Then I see you on the bench, and it's obvious to me that you belong there. There is no mistaking it. So, between my appreciation for a constitution that we can thankfully amend, and getting a chance to see a judge who is exactly where she belongs, is one of those moments that makes me proud to be an American.

Mediation and settlements. Who does that benefit? My husband said the same thing to me in his loving voice, he’d never do anything to hurt his kids mother. Twenty years!
We had verbal agreements. He professionally typed & printed agreement saying if we get different attorneys “we” wont have anything to separate. Me not wanting him to struggle, as he payed for me to fly across the country twice a week.
Hold on. For $11.00 round trip.
Fast forward. The alimony I received was less than he earns in one year. Less! To spread across 10 years.
Ask me how lazy and greedy I was! Seriously. I’ll tell you.

So true! Unfortunately, in my case, it didn't work because BOTH parties have to be willing to work it out and make compromises. Litigation is our only next step...
