How to FIX Noisy PC Fan

If you have a computer case fan or laptop fan that is making noise and you want to repair it, then this video is for you. When fans get dirty and dusty, they don't work properly and they need to be clean or replaced. Why is my laptop fan so loud? A loud Laptop fan can be a sign of a future overheating problem if not cleaned. Dust build up can be a big problem and the fan will need to be cleaned and oiled or replaced.

TIP:
If the fans have recessed shaft like that one in the video you can place your thumb on top of it, creating an air chamber, if you push down with your thumb, the air will push the oil further inside

THIS VIDEO HELPED ME SO MUCH. I put a single drop of hair oil and my fan that once sounded like a fighter plane is now silent than ever. Thank you.

My Amp fan was rattling away like a blender on steroids. Stopped the video to take it apart and now it has a soothing hum like a newly hatched Robin with Stoner hippy parents. Thanks for the great video and subscribed.

Would love to hear a before and after with a bad fan in a review like this. I've got one that sounds like a bad bearing, so hopefully this works on it. Looks like the US has the same brand of oil. Naturally, we have a yellow bottle instead of white, but the design is mostly similar.

Thanks a lot for this, my fan was making a horrible sound off and on for a months and I was being too lazy to do anything about it, but then it wouldn't stop lol. I'm glad you mentioned not to use WD-40 because I was literally about to use that when you said don't use it lol.

Bought a 2, 500 US dollar gaming computer with a noisy fan from new, it was kind of irritating, this video is good for fixing the problem.

Cleaning the filter on my case, while running (I’ll shut off next time) and reinstalling it, clumsily. Hit one of the moving fans, now I hear a tiny wobble/grind sound very very subtle, but can’t unhear it. Will try this out

Informative video Brian ... I'd put up with noisy fans since the mid 90's, fine when you buy them, but having to replace them every two or three years because of the inevitable buzzing that comes over time got annoying. Then in 2010 I came across an ideal solution, buy Noctua. I've had the same NF-P12's for going on 9 years, no buzzing no nothing, even undervolted they are amazing. Yes it cost me an arm and a leg when considering fan prices, but in 9 years they've paid for themselves easily, and I haven't had no pissing about having to change them or repair them. They have a MTBF rating of about 17 years, and it wouldn't surprise me if they went beyond that. I will admit though, when I bought them I had some buyers remorse, but it turns out there was no need.
