An early Joplin rag following the success of the Maple Leaf Rag, probably composed while he was still living in Sedalia, Missouri. His publisher, John Stark & Son, had already moved to St. Louis where Scott would soon follow, in 1901.

This should be an accurate reproduction of the 1901 original score, no changes were made.

Scott Joplin was the reason I was brought here in the ragtime community, and I love this rag so much. The Entertainer is one of my all-time favorites, and I will never forget it. I also love the cakewalks in the ragtime community, too. That made me real interested in this genre.
