The reason he isn’t afraid of Zeus isn’t because he thinks Zeus can’t touch him. It’s because he knew how the others would react if Zeus lost his shit and doesn’t CARE about being hurt to be that catalyst.

Im sure Hades also intended for this display. Ensuring everyone sees Zeus is losing it and in the hopes that they will switch sides. Clearly someone is having a meltdown.

Hades doesn't give a fuck about ruling. He has his kingdom. Its where everyone ends up. He's got a lot to deal with, so I doubt he wants more responsibility. Plus he's the eldest son. He cares for his family very much, that he will do whatever it takes to keep them safe and sound. He just said it in the video too.

Zeus fucked up here. Plain and simple.

The parallels between Zeus and Odin are really on display in this show and American Gods. Both were notorious for creating their own demise by trying to fight against what's to come.

Going against Hades is like pissing off the powerful primordials that works at the underworld like Thanatos, Moirai (Fates), Nemesis, and many more.

Nobody GAVE death to Hades: to avoid fight between themselves, the three brothers drew their kingdoms by luck, keeping Earth and Olympus in common.

Hades is not only the big bad older brother of Zeus AND Poseidon, but is strong enough that Zeus was always scared of going to war with him. Zeus always knew to put some respect on Hades name, especially since the 2 of them had almost zero conflict to begin with.

Hades never cared about any of the bullshit going on up top, because every mortal soul always wound up in his possession one way or another.

He had vast armies that dwarfed the other gods', and was also the richest of all the gods. He had access to all of the gold, silver, and precious jewels of the earth.

Hades literally had everything he ever wanted at all times, and only ever acted up whenever someone fucked around and tried to break into, or escape from the Underworld.

Hades was so respected and feared that back in the day, priests of Hades were mostly left alone by brigands and bandits. Because everyone feared eternal punishment in the Underworld, for being that one asshole who fucked with one of Hades' priests.

Hades is the member of the family that just minds his own business and really doesn't give a damn about the family politics. Managing the land of the dead is a big enough responsibility as it is and he doesn't want to get sucked into the chaos on Olympis. The show honestly did Hades a disservice

Hades is way more powerful than Zeus as the eldest son.

Hera's face when Persephone said that means she thought "I better get him to stop before she does that" when in reality she would've been more than willing to help destroy Zeus.

Even in the original mythos Hades was never personified as evil, it was always Zeus with all of his mischievous actions and arrogance

*after Hades' almost death*
Nyx: Someone stop me, lest Olympus falls!
Thanatos: I am doing everything in my power to keep Hades from crossing the river! Someone stop her!
Charon: I would, but I am currently stopping the flow of the river to prevent my master from crossing.
Every Titan locked in Tartarus: Zeus did what!?
Typhon: Oh I'm about to be hailed a hero after I get out of here.

Kratos: ZEUS!!!

If memory serves me correctly Thanotos was the god of death. Hades ruled over the underworld and the afterlife.

This version of Zeus is unforgivably power hungry. To my knowledge, of all Chronos' children, in almost any version (lookin' at you, Disney), Hades has always been the steadiest, calmest, least likely to be power hungry. He's even a better husband than Zeus is. He deserves to be ruler of creation. He just doesn't want the position.

Fun fact: Persephone’s worship as a death goddess predates the existence of Hades entirely, Hades was a later addition to the pantheon and I’m glad they’re finally pointing out that the two actually have the most stable and loving relationship in Ancient Greece

Even the hymn about her kidnapping is specifically blamed on Zeus as his decree and idea- it’s not that she’s forced to go to the underworld every fall and winter it’s that she’s forced to return to her grieving mother every spring as Demeter jealously refuses to let anything grow- it’s actually not Persephone’s job to make growth happen that’s all Demeters job

Love that Thewlis has played Hades and Ares now. As well as trying to steal a bit of Dreams powers.

So in ancient Greecian myth one of the worst things you can do is kill family and one of Zeus duties is to enforce this.

What in tarnation was Zeus thinking? The underworld is tied to Hades and you know what else is in the underworld? Primordial Titans, Forces of chaos, every nasty thing gods and humans created and if hades goes out, it's basically opening a door to all of them to roam free again
