When you escape and choose life on the run, you need to accept your old life is dead, otherwise you will eventually be caught.

handcuffs don't make a person immobile, they can still run and escape, also the court needs better security imagine having people escape behind the guards back and the guard didn't even notice, unacceptable and poor awareness from the guards
