Props to the first dude for making sure everyone was clear before dumping the weight. He messed up and recovered fairly well.

EDIT: Thank you for all the likes y'all!
I'm under the belief that anyone who is saying he should've just "accepted the help" has never lifted heavy in their lives. When you are out of gas and in the panicked state that occurs directly after missing a rerack, the only thought in your head is "Get this fucking weight off of me." So yes, he recovered well because, despite his state of panic, he continued to hold the weight and made sure everyone was clear before dumping it. He probably hurt himself waiting for them to move out of the way even.

SECOND EDIT:
Bro just should've had a dedicated spotter from the start and, if those were his spotters, shame on them.

Id also like to point out he did the correct form for escaping that kind of thing, dipping forward so as not to put anyweight on your neck and it is the safest way to get out from under a weight like that

Lower the hook to your armpit length

This is also why I set the bar to a height a little bit lower than at full leg extension. I taught my clients the same.

Also did a very good job dropping the weight without injuring himself, getting out of the way very quickly!

The first dude was just mad that he had to get the bar back up on the rack

Sledgemaster agrees on ur advice. From the sledgemaster 39 years of experience and 3 times making professional powerlifting history in 2022 and on August 6th and 7th at pioneer classic in Hamilton, Ohio under the uspa meet director Eric freeman and the other judges on those two days.

Use the safety setup. Put the stops just below your lowest range of motion.

I actually like putting the rack a little shorter than me depends what type of gym you go to but I have powerlifting style type of squat/bench racks it helps reracking

i always set my rack beneath me so I have to stand up straight to unrack and can just walk it in and drop it back in

I always put the bar back when I know for sure I only have enough energy for 1 more rep

I thought walking it back was common sense... no one needed to tell me to do that

Ever notice how people who always yell and drop weights, and people who don't rerack their weights after use often do this.

I won’t know what to think if I see people falling into the rack to rack the weights 😂 I’m no power lifter that gets 700+ squats, but even when I did 385lb I made sure I could still get that on the hooks by walking

That’s why I always set it a notch lower than standing height 🤷🏽‍♂️ a lot of people don’t and I don’t understand why, they’ll have to get on their toe tips to get it back up and risk not being able to rack it like they don’t even know those other notches are there 😂
