Awesome video. Thank you!! I feel so much better, I’m taking the CCENT in about three weeks. Then I’m gonna jump right into the CCNA and get that cert before the end of the summer. I’ve learned so much while studying for the CCENT. I have knowledge, that cannot be taken away.

I'd just like to add that I started studying for the CCENT and CCNA about 4 weeks ago after passing my Sec+, and I'm definitely going to keep studying it. Even if it was already retired and we were waiting on the new CCNA material to be released I'd still be studying it.


 I've been working service desk for about a year now and I can't tell you how many times I've impressed fellow analysts and admins with the knowledge already. The network team loves it when I send up tickets and the troubleshooting has already been done for them. These exams can definitely help you land interviews for new jobs but even more than that, they give you very useful knowledge that turns heads in the workplace and gives you marketable skills.

Keith Barker or anyone else.. in 2019 what Switch and router do you recommend for ccent and CCNA home lab to pass the exams. Back in 2014 you recommended a 3550 switch and a 2621 router.. what do you say in 2019??

The CCENT is the stepping stone on the path to the CCNA, since I have nowhere near enough confidence to take the consolidated test that results in me getting the CCNA immediately. That's the chief value of it for me. Cautiously looking at August 30th for my test date, with three to four hours of study every day but Sunday between now and then.

But after Feb your CCENT does not go towards your CCNA !

This was posted on Reddit r/CCNA:
"First things first, if you complete your CCNA by the cut off then you will be automatically upgraded. If you are a CCENT, that exam is ending so you need to be a CCNA before the cut off or you lose the cert."
This contradicts what you said about CCENT being valid for three years after the cutoff, doesn't it? Can anyone shed some light on this? Thank you!

If you're going for the CCENT, great! If your plan is to impede at just that, your wrong. If your currently (like myself) studying for the CCENT, might as well gear up for the ICND2. Your CCNA will carry over to the new one.

I was gonna pay $3600 for a training school to get my CCENT but the class ends in March, which means I won’t even be able to take the exam for the ccent cert. wtf!

Do you think its enough time between now and February to study and get the a ccna before the test changes, that was my plan after my A+ until I heard about these changes??? I feel like 7 months time is more then enough

The CCENT has always been worthless lol the changes were much needed to modernize the structure. Employers want the CCNA and a junior level dude should be able to get it with no problems.
