One of my mom's favorite phrases: everything in moderation. Even moderation.

I heard somewhere a few years ago that it's better to focus on adding more healthy foods to your diet rather than restricting unhealthy foods, and that advice changed my life

I appreciate her self reflective honestly. So many people try to make it "virtuous" to be absolute jerks bc they have cravings.

This reminds me of a quote from Waitress: "You can live to be 100 if you give up everything that makes you want to."

I can second this! My doctor asked me and my mum to cut off sugar completely ( both of us had pcos ) and i lost a lot of weight pretty fast but it made me visibly crankier and easily annoyed. My mum was the same. She'd be on her toes and all. I've cut down on sugar but i still eat it time to time.

When I was 8 I had a very small modeling gig and my mom completely cut out carbs fat and sugar from my diet. I weighed 34 pounds. Two baby carrots a day.
Anorexia 2 years later.
Suicide attempts. 7.
I am now a certified nutrition expert and help children like I was.

I had to cut down on my sugar because my bloodwork showed that my insulin was a little high. I told my doctor “if I have to cut out sugar from my diet I will not want to be alive” and she replied “you don’t have to cut it out, just cut it down. Even just 75-80% of what you have now would be good enough.” And she’s right I feel so much better now. I didn’t realize how many uncomfortable things were caused by sugar until I cut down on it. Sugar sweats, bad breath, irregular bowl movements, acne, fatigue, all of it was caused in part to too much sugar in my diet. I still have cookies and sweetened creamer in my coffee, but I feel so much better now

Sugar withdrawal is so real. The first three days I felt like I was gonna pass out.

I cut BACK on my sugar intake because I’m prone to yeast overgrowth (and as a women, that means yeast infections). However when I tried cutting it out I was miserable. Just all around a terrible few weeks. I slowly started reintroducing natural sugar and a bit of added sugar, and my diet is now perfectly balanced so that I can enjoy the foods I love. It helps that I naturally prefer more bitter flavors like coffee and dark chocolate, but I didn’t need to completely cut out sugar to feel a difference

She was honest about every part of her experience, and I appreciated it😅

The less i eat sugar, the less it appeals to me. I miss the way it used to make me feel, but feeling healthier does improve my mood.

I went a whole month without sugar. and barley had any the next 3 months. literally life changing. I didn't realize how sweet everything is. I could no longer eat candy like I use to without finding it really sweet. I also lost like 10 pounds in that month.

Remember Granny’s sage advice - ‘a little of what you fancy does you good’ Emphasis on a little. Just remember everything in moderation. I love your videos Adam Wright.

My grandmother lived to be a hundred and seven years old and she had a slice of homemade apple pie once or twice a week with coffee.. you don't have to cut anything out of your diet just do it in moderation.. that's the key.. you can eat steak you can eat chicken you can eat fish you can eat vegetables you can eat soup and you can even have a donut or a piece of pie.. but just do it in moderation.. meaning not everyday

She is so frank and honest about it. Don’t deprive yourself from any food your love. It doesn’t mean eat 1000 calorie donut every morning just be realistic and cautious and mindful. Healthy food can be enjoyable too.
It takes little bit more time to make your own healthy enjoyable version of food. It has to look good and taste good. The most important full of nutrients so you don’t live on supplements.

after battling an ed and taking time to learn proper coping mechanisms, i’ve learned that everything is good in moderation! i love your videos bc they show that to be healthy, you don’t have to cut out the things you love to eat and that make you happy.
