HOW TO BUILD NEW CABINETS in UNDER 3 MINUTES!

Hey Gang! Man are we excited to be back. You know we hate taking long breaks, let's get back into it. We've posted a few videos on our channel regarding RTA cabinets, but this one is different. We're always looking for ways to do things so they're better and faster and this method of assembling cabinets is the way we're going to do it moving forward, and we can't see changing any time soon. Using 3/4" staples to fasten these things together is better in every way shape and form, and with only 3 tools, anyone can order themselves some RTAs and transform their kitchen (or anywhere that needs a cabinet face lift) Thank you so much for all the support on the channel and Happy New Year!!

Shortly after getting married and buying our first house, I fixed some minor thing while she was watching. She commented “wow, you’re kind of handy!” And it was over from there. Been doing all the projects since then, so I appreciate all of your content to help me do better!

Tip, when installing RTA cabinets I put a piece of foam board down to build them on with less chance of scratching the finish, and glue just pops off leaving it a clean surface. Keep up the great content guys.

Thank you Paul. ive had my whole kitchen cabinetry sitting in my van for over a week. I finally cleaned the kitchen and had my boys bring all 14 boxes in. Now its been a lil under a week in my kitchen waiting for me to call my contractor to come build them. I kept telling myself why can I not build them myself and now I believe i can. You just gave me hope!

Nice! A narrow crown stapler is an under rated tool. I use one regularly for upholstery purposes and woodworking. Great lesson on saving time and still accomplishing the mission.

Manufacturers put them together with staples and some no adhesive. A cabinet of ours failed at the face frame and the entire cabinet came off the wall except the back panel, of course. I do it your way; glue and staple. It's much better than those brackets.

So timely! I was just discussing RTA for my rental and talking with the contractor about how much time they take to assemble! This is my new plan! Thanks!

Being a fan of this channel is dangerous for an electrician like me. With all your tips I might finally try to tackle all of my home remodels myself!!! 🤣 Another great video guys, keep em coming!

I'd take 5 minutes and put glue in all the dados, but maybe that's overkill... when I saw the dados I immediately thought "glue and brad nailer!" because that's the way we'd do it if we were building them from scratch.

A few years ago I did an entire 10x10 kitchen with these same RTA cabinets, I wanted solid wood and preassembled cabinets were way expensive. I used wood glue and all the brackets and screws, I recall that yes it was time-consuming but I enjoyed it, I felt like I was actually building something. These cabinets turned out rock solid and beautiful.

A key assembly point is you start with the face frame on the bottom. This turns the face frame into an assembly jig. If you ever go custom make the face frame first then cut and assemble parts and attach to the face frame. Much better than box first followed by face frame fitting.

Great demo. I like the extra staples at the end, even realizing that it's the joint and construction glue providing the structural strength.
I believe in overbuilding when convenient and adding little cost. I especially like that the cabinets have no 1/8" panels.
I've had to add mounting cleats to badly designed cabinets with a 1/8" (3/16"?) back panel.

I worked a large cabinet manufacturer for 12 years. This is very similar to the way we assembled them. The only exceptions being we had large hot melt guns for gluing. Also we ran the crown staple guns parallel to the sides fully shooting the side before we dropped the top and bottoms. Very quick method. On our assembly lines full cabinets were assembled and boxed in about a minute. Good job guys!

Wife and I just put together and installed 12 base and upper cabinets (first time, BTW). Something that's just as important is to make sure all the edges line up correctly. Our cabinets were very, very similar to these with tons of little brackets, same dados, use glue, etc. and we found that one of our base cabinet sides was off just a little (too long - i.e. maybe the dado was off a little?), so when we went to level it, it was impossible. We ended up having to use a hand plane to shave it down during install... So long story short, make sure you check that all four sides of your base cabinets are flush at the top where the counter top will sit and adjust if possible at assembly. The bottom really doesn't matter because your gonna shim it anyway.

BTW... wish I had seen this video before we built ours. Good videos are hard to find. We ended up randomly finding some at Jarlin Cabinetry You Tube channel (not who we bought our cabinets from). They show all the steps including the brackets being installed. After seeing this video, I probably would have done some of it differently.

Installed some RTA cabinets in my master closet. Took about 10 minutes each to assemble. Very well made and very sturdy.

You can staple the back where the two panels crest an L also. That way you don’t have to worry about ever seeing a staple at all.

4:58 OK, THANK YOU SO MUCH FIR THIS TIP👍🏻👍🏻
I normally stay away from RTA b/c every time you get them, they are assembled a completely different way; so it’s just annoying. Also hate that glue squeeze out and seeing it if not careful, BUT THIS GOLD NUGGET is BRILLIANT, and would work pretty much for any style of assembling methods, GENIOUS YOU ARE👍🏻
🙏🏼Cheers🙏🏼

thank you for posting this. I am about to put together 30 cabinets for my kitchen. You saved me a ton of time. This is a great video.

Really like the nailer & only critical screws needed. 👍🏻👍🏻 Sure beats the pins, clips, dowels, etc that take so long.

Typically use continuous beads of clear silicone to put cabinets together anyway, to completely seal and spill-proof all the joints, so will keep doing that.
(Not much difference of cost, & creepy crawlies abound in Florida... so it's 2 "saleable" layers of peace-of-mind for customers.)
