The motor is delta connected. Even with a minimal load the motor will stop. If the motor is star connected (with neutral) then it can run on 2 fase even with a decent load. For all of those writing that the delta connected motor will run on a 2 fase please open any electrical machinery book and then come back and correct there comments.

Btw thats how they discovered how to make a one phase ac motor. They realised that if a 3 phase motor is spinning and one phase is disconnected, it will continue to spin. If you try to start it with 2 phases it wont work because instead of a circulating magnetic field, it now has an alternating magnetic field, which does not create current in the rotor and therefore it doesn't spin
