China's Marshall Plan for energy

Показать описание
The Marshall Plan was a transformative policy of US investment into postwar Europe, and cemented the United States as the leader of the Western world. The plan also deepened trade ties, banking relationships, and was a boon to America's industrial sector, opening up huge new markets.
China's Belt and Road Initiative is even more ambitious, in its investment scope and in how many countries are involved. In energy alone, China has installed more power projects since 2013 than the total electric generation of Australia.
China's central bank provides direct lending, which deepens China's banking relationships and promotes the internationalization of the renminbi. Chinese firms open new markets for industrial and consumer goods that did not exist. And the program strengthens China as a lender of first resort across emerging markets, and as a leader in the Global Majority countries.
Closing scene, Dongguan, Guangdong
