My opinions on the best locations to set up your base with the intention of completing the island map. In this short guide, I shear the best strategic locations on the island for a player wanting to fight the end game bosses and not have to worry about PVP combat. Thanks for coming by my channel use the discord link if you are interested in joining the new server for the genesis release on P.C there are still a few spaces left or if you would just like to be a bigger member of the community. I like that you were thorough with why the areas were good and showed the resources. Thanks also for not making this excessively long. Subscribed.

Im no expert but this vid seemed well thought out and planned. Great vid!

To anyone reading this, check out coordinates Lat- 46.0 Lon- 58.5

There is a natural crevis surrounding an incline on 2 or 3 sides which i use for my taming pens. There is a forest on the other side of the crevis so easy wood/thatch/chitin with none of the forest danger because of the space between and TONS of water and regular rocks for your metal/stone/flint needs. There is a river in front for easy access to water and fish/prime fish meat, mountains and a volcano within short flying distance rich on either side with metal, crystal, and obsidian, two resource drops nearby, and easy access to prime meat through large herbivores that spawn nearby.

There are three drawbacks to this location however. 1 being that it is not near any large bodies of water so no shark tames here. 2 this incline CAN be tough to build on, though i managed a pretty large base. 3 it is a little far away from the oil rich part of the winter biome.

My solution to these problems was to build small outposts to make up for this bases short-comings. One outpost near the winter biome continuously making gasoline and polymer. An outpost near the sea for easy access to aquatic tames and resources. A third at the peak of a metal rich mountain near the base for one of the three nearby sources of metal, crystal, and obsidian. These small outposts are almost continuously burning while im away to make gasoline, organic polymer, spark powder, and metal ingots.

I just want to mention for people, brawlers bay is also good because it offers a lot more resources than you think. On the shore of the snow biome to the north, there are oil rocks where you can get all the oil you need without going underwater. Also, silica pearls in abundance! That is all right in the beginning of the snow biome with only dire wolves and the very rare Yuty guarding it. I actually built my own base a little further to the north and found it be the one of the best spots for resources.

I have had to ban myself from building on herbivore island in my current play through, it is just too tempting and convenient.

I like how calm your voice is. No unnecessary hype and excitement. Just relaxed vibes.

Great video. As an alternative to "the center" spot, I like the bare rocky spot along the river at about 47, 47 - overlooks redwoods but the river keeps out the riff raff, sits between volcano, redwood mtn, other mtn, smaller number of predators roams near, easy water access. Scenic, great resources, great spawns, almost direct center of the map.

It might not be a best location, but one of my favorite locations to setup is near the river at the southwest part of the map near the red obelisk. Under the red obelisk is a great natural holding water pen for water creatures, it has access to the ocean and I did check that it is deep enough for them to swim into there. Plus, I'm almost positive that on occasion a Quetzal would fly around the red obelisk area at times, so it would be a good spot to keep a look out for it to tame. Also it might not be as close to the snow biome as Brawler's Bay, but you still can take a raft north along the coast to get to the snow biome. But yeah, great suggestions on base locations. Even if The Island is a basic map that the game started off with, it is still one of my favorite maps, because I think it has some of the best water access with oceans encircling the whole map, and rivers spread out through the map. It also has a good variety of different biomes.

I've spent close to 100 hours on this, it was very grueling, but finally. FINALLY! I've found a video about base locations that actually mentions ressources. Thumbs up for that.

This video is super helpful, hands down the most helpful and descriptive while also not being too long! Bringing out the resource map was super helpful as well!

I would also add Penguin Island in the north-west of the map to this list. It's a big iceberg out in the snowy area, but it's a huge area with plenty of space to build on, and it has the BEST natural water dino storage area on the entire map! One behemoth gate closes it off and you've got a huge pool inside your base to store large water dinos in, with underwater access straight out into the sea.

Like Herb Island it's (largely) peaceful (you may get the odd argy flying over), but you will have to deal with the constant cold, so it's best to prep before going over there to set up camp (get a set of furs and a bed built over there just in case you die as there's no random spawn point nearby, so if you respawn and try to make it back there on foot, you'll probably die before you can even get close to it).
It's also at the bottom of blue obi mountain, which has huge amounts of metal, obsidian and crystal on it, not to mention there's tons of silica pearls and oil nearby too. The snow area is also a good place to find high level dinos like Rexes, Yutys, Carnos, Mammoths, Wolves and more (just be wary of Badgers jumping out of the ground on the mainland, they are a nightmare if they take you off your tame, especially if there's a pack of wolves around!)

better production quality and audio than most of the base builds that have 500k+ views. This video should ahve more. There's literally just cellphone microphone potato quality videos with a million views.

Would recommend a popfilter for the microphone though.

A place I’ve always enjoyed building at is directly under the green obelisk. It has several levels of large, flat, high up areas right by each other with tons of building space, plus you’ll never get lost!

Nice video, and very informative! I have built at most of these locations, and enjoyed them all!
I think brawler beach was where I tamed my first Rex, and Argy!

Keep up the good work, James!

First base I ever had was up the river just west of the stone Isles, the hill west of that river has good amounts of metal and crystal too
