I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.

We have weighed the costs and a cruise makes so much more sense, we have adapted this strategy as well. Taking a Virgin Voyage back home in October

I love cruise but my partner who has never been doesn’t like the idea. On a side note, we never have jet lag issue at all, and been traveling for 20 years. Even my 75yo mom doesn’t have this issue either.

You guys encouraged us to book our first repo cruise to Europe back in the spring. We celebrated retirement! Now we're looking at another in the fall which will include the Panama Canal! Exciting times! Y'all give great travel advice!

good video and I agree! You and some other Youtubers convinced me at 53 years old to do my first Transatlantic in April this year. I cannot wait to do another one next year 🙂 Safe travels to you both

Allie and Rob, would you address the best cruise lines and repositioning cruises for solo travelers?

I have two booked in the next eight months: one on Celebrity and one on NCL. I paid very little for them both, and there is no solo supplement on the NCL.

I’m taking a Greek Isles cruise leaving Athens in one week. I will be booking my Transatlantic 2025 while on board for extra perks. I already have a Transpacific booked for Fall 2025 from Vancouver to Tokyo. Great advice. Only challenge is traveling solo so the cost is not as big a perk, but being retired also, I have time. Cheers!

Great idea! You had me at "no jet lag." I'm annoyed at myself for not thinking of this, because we love cruising. I'll for sure be using this idea in the future. Thank you!

We like repositioning but I struggle to know when is the best time to book. Can you tell us your strategy with this?

The only thing holding me back is repositioning cruises are often made during rough seas. Crew isn’t looking for bad weather but the weather can be unpredictable.

We actually booked the same ship for 2 repositioning cruises, only 18 days apart. One was $978, including all but tips, the other $1513.
