I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.

I love cruise but my partner who has never been doesn’t like the idea. On a side note, we never have jet lag issue at all, and been traveling for 20 years. Even my 75yo mom doesn’t have this issue either.

I’m taking a Greek Isles cruise leaving Athens in one week. I will be booking my Transatlantic 2025 while on board for extra perks. I already have a Transpacific booked for Fall 2025 from Vancouver to Tokyo. Great advice. Only challenge is traveling solo so the cost is not as big a perk, but being retired also, I have time. The only thing holding me back is repositioning cruises are often made during rough seas. Crew isn’t looking for bad weather but the weather can be unpredictable.
