They need to reverse South bound lanes to double.

For you asking why the southbound is still open, it's for supplies and staging equipment, machinery, and vehicles for the recovery. They have ESU right now, meaning the left shoulder Northbound is an extra lane. Once the staging is over, they probably will open southbound for North traffic flow. You have to remember, there's hundreds of trucks and people going to the danger. A 10, 000 person base camp at Tropicana Field for example. FL National Guard, Fish and Wildlife, FDLE, FHP, and bunches of others are gearing up. Not including maritime agencies, linemen, and lots of other people need to get to where they need to be. I know it sucks.

Prayers for safe travels, Floridians. So glad you all are getting out early. I hope you all come back to homes with 0 to minimal damage.

I lived in Florida for 30 years and evacuated many times. We would evacuate at the 11th hour when traffic was already gone and just drive out with no problem. I'm up North again, but fear for my Florida friends.

Looks like y’all wised up and listened to the NOAA for once. Good to see. Be safe.

I know I’m not the only one crying watching this. And the destruction of Helene. I was in Katrina. My heart aches for all these people. Evacuation is a nightmare. And nothing prevents the devastation.

No wonder insurance companies don't want anything to do with that place.

It’s terrible there because people are still recovering from Helene and now their homes will be even more destroyed from Milton. 😢 Prayers for them 🙏🏻🙏🏻🩷

Reminds me of when my family evacuated Houston for hurricane Rita stuck in traffic for over 24 hrs to get to Dallas.

I'm just happy to see them taking the storm seriously and getting out of the way. Hopefully they won't go somewhere else in the path.

What ever happened to North-only for all lanes of a highway during times like these?! F’in’ DeSantis!

Category 5 huricane María devastate Puerto Rico and the houses are made of cement. We over here know how horrible it’s going to be because most of those houses are gypsum board. I dont live there and I’m terrified for everyone that owns a home in the area.
