Getting your vehicle fixed is expensive. In most cases, taking your vehicle to a shop is going to cost you a few hundred dollars. Ask friends and family who they trust to work on their car. Figure out what kind of person are you. Do you want quality work and want good service, or are you looking for a deal? Some shops are going to charge a flat rate per job; others will charge you for the time it takes to fix the problem. And you're going to deal with different shops for different issues. You may deal with one shop for your tires and another for the electrical. And sometimes you're going to have to take you vehicle to the dealership.

Good luck on your road test.

As old as the "Buggy" is, I am glad the dealerships are willing to work on them. Kudos to Honda for making parts standardized no matter what model year.

Nobody is going to care about your car as much as you do. Do as many maintenance items as you can if you want to save money: oil and oil filter change, clean MAF sensor (literally like 5 minute job), check at least one spark plug every 30k miles, change your own air and cabin filters... if you have a Honda or Toyota, then even doing brakes are not difficult. I learnt to do all of this from YouTube and it has saved me literally thousands of dollars.

Don't forget your timing belt tensioner, They fail unexpectedly if they have a lot of miles 200K plus. Demand a new timing belt tensioner is installed on your BUggy.

Would have been nice if you talked about how to find a mechanic like the title says. You just mentioned all these mechanics you already use for different things and nothing about how you found/chose them in the first place.

Here is the first clue, the louder the music the worst the mechanic. No qualified professional can concentrate on a task with loud music in the background. Plus, the owner is not smart enough to realize that loud music in a shop is a safety hazard, it can also open up a workman's comp claim on an employee suffering from ringing ears.
