Why did I buy Flight Simulator 2024 Aviator Edition?

This is a new format of video for me, but I felt this was a good topic for me to start with because I love simulation games, especially flight sim. Please feel free to share your opinion below in the comments. If you liked this style of video, then let me know. Also please consider subscribing for more content such as this in the future.

I have had a pilot's license with an instrument rating for quite a few years. I can't fly any more and miss it terribly. The closest I can get to real flying now is with FS2020 and so I keep it as close to my actual experience as I can for my reminiscing. So It's a C172, C182, a Mooney (my favorite airplane to actually fly), sometimes the TBM 930. I really don't care how many Boeing or Airbus models there are or fighter jets or how many exotic world airports are available. I stay in the USA and pretend that I'm still doing what I used to love doing. With addon's like BeyondATC, FS 2020 is not a terrible substitute for the real thing. I would be interested in upgrading to 2024 if they have improved things like the ground crew that walks into my propeller, or the shuttle bus that runs over my plane on the taxiway, or when the sim ("live weather") has clear skies while the NWS METAR reports an overcast. I will be watching for such improvements before I buy.

I'm glad you asked people to keep it nice, but for some crazy reason, people will still find a way to express extreme hatred to each other over a video game.

Although I have many of the aircraft that are porting over (and updating), I purchased the aviators edition as a way of saying thanks and supporting a legendary game I’ve played for decades.

Exactly what I've been thinking. I was feeling a bit short-changed as I'd bought most of the 'planes that were released as specials alongside updates for the past 4yrs (I shudder to think how much I've spent on add-ons over that time).

However, when I looked at the Aviator additional aircraft I found that I only have about half of them. So, while someone who has none of them will pay about £2 per aircraft (rough estimate), I'll be paying about £4 per aircraft. So, still excellent value (if you ignore the lack of reward for your brand loyalty) when you consider that buying them separately would be about £20 each (again, rough estimate)...

Also, though you may never fly some of them, you'll see them (hopefully) when someone else is flying them instead of a generic skin, like a 737 (or other standard 'plane) instead of the aeroplane they're actually flying but you don't have in your hangar (don't get me started on that one - there was never any enthusiasm to resolve this in MSFS 2020)...

Aviator Ed for me. Short-term pain for longtime gain 👍

Right now, I am happy with Flight-Sim X and will wait till the 2024 edition get all the bugs worked out and the prices come down a bit.

Im getting it too, makes sence in the addon section. Although I allready own a bunch of the planes, it still feels like a good deal.
Getting a base version and expanding by buying addons most likely turns out to be more expensive .

I'm a beginner and had the same approach MSFS 2024 will be my first real exp with the game. I saw the prices on Aerosoft's website and went 'well if the aviator gives me this much while the addons cost an arm why not take the Aviator (Limited-Physical)'

I never bought any of the aircraft from 2020 as I mostly like to fly the 172, the vision jet and the longitude. Now that I have adult money, I treated myself and got the collectors edition.

I too have purchased the Aviator addition for pretty much the same reasons as you did. I just figured ah heck what the hell lol, it's all good. My advice to people is do what works best for you, buying one addition over another doesn't make anyone any better or worse than anyone else. See you all in 2024, Cheers!

These days I am able to resist the temptation of buying the 'local legends' aircraft. Most of the time they disappoint or I simply don't fly them more than once. Quit happy with my quality addons such as the BS TBM and dukes, the Fenix A320's, BEA146, PMDG 737, 777, HPG helicopters, Commanche PA24 and so on. Expensive, but giving so much joy everytime I fly those. Enjoy your Edition, I will go for the Premium Deluxe for the Airbus, the Saab and the PC24. Cheers!

Good video, and I had the same idea as you. As a collector, you get all the new planes plus the extra physical items.
However, Jorg said that the planes you have in 2020 will transfer to 2024. I looked at the additional planes in 2024, as advertised, and I don't care for them. I have been spoiled with the current crop from 2020 Premium Deluxe. I may consider getting one other plane and, as mentioned, we can purchase individual planes (now, for those already in the sim) when 2024 comes out.
Since I am on a budget, I purchased the Standard edition (with 28 new planes) and I may purchase the Pilatus PC-24 when it is on sale.

Also you don't have to buy the version you want to start off as in the game you can purchase the upgrades later if you prefer to do it that way.

I haven't had a flight Sim since MSFSX so, $200.00 for the Aviator is a drop in the bucket alongside of setting up a whole system from scratch. I have a heart condition that prevents me having a PPL so... flight sim. No add Ons from previous sims. So going for the Aviator.

Your logic makes sense that's for sure. Youll find out in a few weeks when you get to fly them.

It makes perfect sense to buy the premium Aviator edition - clearly. It comes down first to money, of course, so if you have it, love and enjoy flight simulation, always have and always will, even with minimum flight controls, have a capable computer, all the extra aircraft make up the difference. However, having said all this, if it was easily affordable, like the other more popular games, I don't believe it would take away from the quality of the game. So many more people would definitely buy it. This price will make a lot of people shy away from it, It always comes down to money

Honestly, I'm more about the airports than the number of aircrafts. Because yeah, I'm not interested in flying a lot of planes, especially the very older ones. But, realism comes when it is about the departure and destination. Especially at night. I get "playing" with other planes never used before. That's cool. But, more often than not I'm using the sim for things thar are realistic to what I think would actually happen in real life. Great vid though. I appreciate you showing the comparison. That really does show what's what. If I get the Aviator package though, it'll be simply for the airports.

I'm considering to buy the Aviator edition myself. May be looking to pre-order it this next coming weekend when I get paid.

Are we going to be able to individually purchase the any of the fs24 planes separately if we choose to?

I got the aviator edition as well simply because the only one I purchased previously was the 225. I - as you did - broke down the cost per plane, and thought was the best way to go.. even if I only fly them a few times - I have the option to just jump in and fly something different

That's my logic too but I never pre-order anything and will wait for the release, reviews, inevitable bug fixing, price decreases and then probably buy the Aviator Edition :-)

Meanwhile I've been offered 3 months of Xbox Game Pass PC so if it's not delayed I'll be able to try it out anyway.
