Less than a minute from the runway - frequent flyer Ben Levy realized something was wrong. In the cockpit, the crew didn't properly respond when the plane started flying too low to land safely.

The brutal impact tore the tail off the body of the plane and set an engine ablaze. Levy stood by the door, helping passengers escape safely. Only when the rescuers arrived to help the injured, Levy finally headed to safety.

I was in a 737 crash back in ‘89 that was similar to this. We were able to land with no hydraulics but unable to stop and crashed at about 140 mph. We lost the nose of the plane and we lost all landing gear. The engines and portions of the plane caught on fire. It is still hard to explain the terror, yet calm when you’re surrounded by 125 people who are all 100% sure that everyone is going to die. Amazingly, there were injuries but no fatalities. God was watching over all of us. America West #450

There is actually video of the plane as it hits the ground... this really was a miracle... everyone should be dead. The aircraft bounced and actually rotated 360 degrees

One time I was flying as a 6 year old. I remember noticing that on a flight going from Jordan back to Saudi Arabia, as the plane was descending to land on the runway, one of the wing flaps just tore straight off the left wing (since I was sitting right behind the left wing at the window seat). I was the only one that noticed that one of the flaps had tore off and we ended up landing safely but it was quite bumpy compared to other usual landings. I just remembered being so scared that I knew part of the wing wasn’t supposed to fly off.

Ye Meng Yuan was thrown from the Boeing 777 as it crashed while landing at San Francisco International Airport on July 6, 2013. She wound up on the ground, where she was sprayed with flame-retardant foam and then run over by two Fire Department rigs — one of which had earlier been directed around her when she was still visible.

Rest in peace you poor girl.

Of the three people who died 2 wasn’t wearing their seatbelts and 6 days later a third died but it was from a piece of the plane hitting her in her seat. One of the not wearing seatbelts that were thrown out the plane to the runway was run over by a fire engine. There are conflicting reports on if she was alive when the fire truck ran over her. The coroner officially determined she was dead before being run over but other reports challenge this and say she was alive.

I remember that! It happened just 40 minutes south of me.

Absolutely guarantee that the pilots knew but were too busy trying to correct the problem than communicate. Aviate, navigate, communicate.

It's sad because the passengers knew more than the pilots and the rescuers killed almost as many people as the crash.

Was this the crash where the little girl was run over by the fire truck ???

People talking about the passengers. Every day a pilot goes to work, he knows that the passengers lives are more important than the pilots, so he must work as hard as he can to maintain safety. When the pilot dies, all the passengers live, he or she won't get the respect they deserve.

On the morning of July 6, 2013, an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 was operating flight 214 from Seoul to San Francisco. However, due to the flight crew’s mismanagement of the final approach, the aircraft stalled and crashed in San Francisco, marking The Boeing 777’s First Fatal Crash since the aircraft type entered service in 1995.
