These African traditions go way back and because they are overtly African these facts get overlooked and ignored. Are there any other cultures that practice this? Lmk down in the comments. #nubianculture #history #ancientkemet #africa #kemet #greatempireofkemet #egyptology #cheikhantadiop #nubiokemetic

In African American culture today, stretching your ears is considered “alternative”, “white” or “weird” culture. We need to show them that it runs deeper than this and it is part of our history. Dua RaKhem

While yes, Egyptians had this practice, it’s strange to believe that it’s only the Egyptians that practiced gauged earlobes.

Otzi the Iceman’ who was found frozen in the Alps between Italy and Austria is the oldest mummy with stretched ears found in Europe dating back to 3, 300 BC.

It’s also a known fact that Mayans and many other people groups in the Americas were stretching their ear lobes. No single culture or people group can lay claim to war gauges. To do so is to create conflict where non is present.

No one can own this or really any cultural traditions. Traditions flow to other cultures that then lead to new traditions. It’s how the world works.
