instead of the bonnet to not stain it, use a shower cap! and fully saturate your hair (put into sections and distribute evenly)

24 hours is the best idea! Your hair is stunning!

one thing that might help, is doing it in sections so you actually coat your hair instead of having a bunch of patchyness. it’s painful to see you just glob it on

as someone who accidentally left purple shampoo on their bleached hair for a week it doesn't stain, the stain you are seeing is left over from product and will wash out after a second wash

(EDIT: I managed it cause it was on my under layer of hair (i have really thick hair) my friend pointed it out to me though that's how i knew)

Gorgeous. Use a plastic wide tooth comb next time to evenly distribute the product & a mirror to get all of the back. I missed a few spots in the back years ago by not using a mirror & just my gloved fingers applying black hair dye for Halloween to my med brown hair. 😅 It was funny.

you should section your hair from the bottom to the top to cover it all!

Hairdresser here! 🙋🏽‍♀️
If you are trying to get a purple tint I would say you need to be like 1 shade lighter. You still have a bit of a golden/bronze sheen to your hair before it and it needs to be a very pale yellow for purple to over deposit into your hair- not just tone it like it’s doing now. And also I would use a wet brush and brush it through so everything is covered evenly! You can tell the mask has done a great job tonight the hair it touched- but you can see where it wasnt evenly applied as it’s still orange/yellow and the rest is white at the end!

If your hair is light enough, then an hr is plenty of time. The colour stops depositing after your hair has sucked up everything it can, you would really only be getting more of the nourishing elements of the mask beyond that 😄

Begging you to wet your hair a little first and separate your hair into multiple sections, it will look so good when it’s all even

If you want your hair to be purple tinted but not last long, i recommend using a color depositing conditioner in a purple or lavender shade and leaving it in for either the shorter end of, or less than the recommended processing time. It contains a bit of temporary color that will (in my experience) wash out with hot water in 1 or 2 washes (i do a double cleanse every time i wash my hair). I've used the Keracolor color depositing conditioner/clenditioner on Amazon or from Ulta. Also, yep- purple shampoo is very drying but anything with like a temporary or semi permanent conditioner/semi permanent dye won't damage your hair as jt doesn't really change the physiology of your hair.

And it's super important to saturate your hair fully. You shouldnt really be able to see your natural hair color through the mask/conditioner/dye. And kind of dig through your hair to make sure each section is saturated through and through and theres nothing stuck in the middle without color on it.

I do have professionally colored hair and have had professional fantasy colors. But ive done the color conditioner in my mom's natural blond but also highlighted hair. I also have a friend who is a licesnsed cosmetologist who has explained a lot to me
