In the comics, Thanos wants all the smoke. All the violence.

Don't think Thanos is not an anti-hero. He's a villain through and through. He doesn't care about the consequences of his actions. Evil.

Thanos is beyond any doubt one of the most mysterious yet an emotional kind of villain who had shared some clear motivations, we could either respect them or love for them, perhaps both. To Thanos, he is like me: my own beating heart of love, a desperate mind with struggling ideas to save and protect, able to be ashamed for some reason. With lack of understanding, we are no better than some mindless savages.

MCU Thanos is not the real life Thanos unfortunately. The only thing they got right is that he is almost more miserable after his success and wins. The real Thanos was born evil and truly a super villain capable of unbelievable damage and the cause of unfathomable tragedy.

it's kinda sad to see in Endgame where Thanos from the past learns how his ultimate goal is being undone in the future, making him realize that his goal was naive and in his mind believe that he cannot save a universe that is unwilling to make the necessary sacrifice to save itself.

That is why he states that the universe he planned on making will be a "grateful universe"

Fun fact: Everything Thanos said he would do in the movie, he did

In general this short describes how Thanos saw the universe and himself very well, but it is a bit generous I think. While he may have believed these things, I'd argue he was less noble (indulging in quite a bit of unnecessary cruelty) and had become no more than a blind zealot at some point, applying a "solution" that might(?) have made sense for his home planet to the entire universe as a whole.

More likely, he was already crazy when he first suggested his solution, and was made even crazier when people didn't listen to his initial crazy and decided it was better to all die together than to cross such a line.

Then he just sort of snapped.

its funny that starlord points out that Titan was eight degrees off its axis, and its gravitational pull was all over the place… Maybe this is what caused the resource and societal collapse and not entirely overpopulation.

The Avengers are true heroes. Thanos is one of the evil villains. He was selfish and childishly arrogant, not the poor, sweet Avengers.

The most destructive forces in history had proven to be those who in the name of good they will make their purpose to correct an inequity.

That’s why you should never follow anyone with a resentful attitude.
