he never absorbed the one above all, and he never defeated him in a 1v1.
the whole story is that the one above all cant defeat/ stop him now because if he does than a lot/almost all of universes would die in the multiverse permanently.the only way to defeat him was to remove the astro regulator from him and destroy it. as one above all chose not to do this. he was in a way defeated.and thanos won, the whole comic storyline is way bigger than this. its just a part of this story.
