My family feeds our farm animals the food we don't eat so that it doesn't go to waste.

I lived in Korea for a year and It’s so nice to keep food waste separate from garbage because the garbage can never smells!

My grandparents have a garden that they recycle their food waste into. Even during winter, it goes straight into the soil. It's especially good for Christmas when we have the entire family over and too much food

I don’t see this ever working in my country bc people are too lazy to separate their trash. Theyll say the whole sticker thing and different bags sounds too “confusing” 💀

It's very common in South Africa to give food away to less fortunate people. They would knock on your door and if you have food that is leftover and no one in the house hold wants to eat it we give it way to these people. This way you limit the amount of food that goes bad and is thrown away.

And this is why my family has a bin known as my dog. He will eat literally anything.

this just made me remember the time i saw a video of a donut shop in America throwing out HUNDREDS of donuts, filling up a whole trash bin when that leftover could’ve been given to the needy

This was one of the things I had to get used to when I lived in Itaewon. It was an inconvenience at first because I was used to American culture but I totally implement mindfulness when throwing things away now.

Korea actually has a bunch of really useful systems like this to reduce their waste and its something all countries should begin to look up to. Even if all of the world implemented this tiny change in the system, the world would drastically change for the better.
