And farmers throw away produce because markets want it to look good on the shelves.

Another headline would be: "Tons of garbage cans steal health food from diners plates".

I used to work for a school district. You wouldn't believe how much good food they throw out. Stuff still in wrappers, milk, juice, brand new water bottles.

The rest of the world starves so we can eat. Isn’t humanity a wonderful thing?

So how did they come up with this data? Did they rummage through everyone's trash? I know in my house hold nothing goes to waste, especially the healthy foods because they cost the most.

I don't waste my food. I eat everything I prepare and I make sure to check the dates, and consume those items before they go bad.

Old news. We have done this for many years. We waste more than enough food to feed those less fortunate in our country. But if you can't pay for it then you don't deserve it.. its the American capitalist way.

Sometimes people buy healthy just to psych themselves...but then end of eating out.

Every week, as soon as I get home from grocery shopping, before I put anything away, I write out the menu of meals I can make with what I have bought, and post it on a mini dry-erase board inside my cupboard. It takes four minutes. If you do this every week for a month or two, it will become second nature, and it will save you a lot of money, time, and headaches. Also: freeze, freeze, freeze! Bread freezes beautifully (take it from freezer to toaster) leftover soups and tomato sauces freeze beautifully, even extra milk can be frozen....have too many bananas and no time to use them? Peel them, toss them into a freezer bag. Puree them straight, with no other ingredients, and make an incredible replacement for ice cream. Or blend them into a smoothie, or thaw them for banana bread.

Not only in America but the human race entirely waste A LOT of food! There should not be one hungry individual, ever! I try my very best not to waste but there are times I do not get to foods in time before they spoil so I have changed the way I grocery shop to avoid that and it helps but, there are still wastes at times. Great video!
