They probably did not know the power would be out long enough to destroy all of the food. We have power outages that go for five minutes… 20 minutes… To hours long. It’s not predictable. But, I agree. I wish stores would donate food that they’re going to pull off the shelves instead of throwing it away.

Businesses used to donate food to charities for the poor & homeless until people became unappreciative & started suing the businesses. Ruined it for Everyone.

I had the opportunity to experience this after a hurricane passed by. Their generators did not worked well and they tossed everything just like this.

Western Canadian provinces have a system to keep this sort of waste from happening. Farmers sign up to pick up this kind of food waste to feed to their livestock. Grocery stores set it aside anything broken, damaged, defective, unsellable, but nothing too rotten/mouldy because there’s even a limit on what animals will consume.

I was at one of the local dollar general stores and the lady was opening individual packs of cheese peanut butter crackers into a large storage bin. I asked what she was doing and she said they "expired" yesterday and she had to throw them in the dumpster according to manager because they did not want anyone to " get sick or food poisoning" from sealed packaged peanut butter cheese crackers that we know would have been good for another couple of months. Such a waste.

I worked at Walmart during a big power outage, everything cold was tossed. There was 4 or 5 dumpsters worth :/

Are you any of the people who would be happy to have bought the food and got sick from it and maybe ended up in hospital and NOT sued them And why give it to the helpless or unfortunate people - why should they be happy about that - Thank you Target for bearing the brunt of this type of criticism while doing the correct thing
