If you don't want to spend on a 1911, the m&p shield EZ has the grip safety, thumb safety. Get the performance center for upgraded sites and trigger.

Another thing of note: I like to reholster my 1911 by also blocking the hammer with my thumb and pushing down on the back of the slide. That has the added benefit of also keeping my palm off the grip safety during reholstering. Thus, when I’m holstering the gun, the thumb safety must be disengaged, the grip safety must be depressed, the trigger must be pulled, and the hammer must get past my thumb in order to fire. That’s 4 separate things that must go wrong more or less simultaneously, which is really comforting given that reholstering is generally the most dangerous thing when handling a loaded handgun.
