I always carry with it chambered, those couple of seconds it takes to rack a round can be the difference between life and death.

Since day one I keep one in the chamber. That’s how you should train, that’s how you should carry.

While I agree with you. I'm still a time and place guy. If I actually think I'll need it, I'm probably carrying a revolver. If that doesn't work, the long one in the car will.
On the other hand I've seen too many accidental discharges to disregard human error.
😉 Stay safe.

I never carry, I only use my guns for target shooting.

Condition one and done.
My brother and I, had different view points. He carried condition 2, figured he could rack a round before he had to use it. Trained on a regular basis with smash caps. One day he was training, drawing his firearm from a concealed position and racking a round. He then grabbed his spare mag, he carried on his belt. Dropped the empty mag, slammed a fresh mag in. Racked the slide, squeezed the trigger. And blew a hole thru his bedroom wall into his bathroom medicine cabinet. (Concrete exterior walls, JHP, wouldn't over penetrate). He forgot to put smash caps in his spare mag. Lesson learned, He carries condition one now, as one should. In his mind, it's better than fiddling with it and he knows it's always loaded.
About a month later at the range, I put 2 rds downrange on paper before he was able to draw and rack the slide, anyhow. He changed his mind then.

Great advice except if it's apparently a Taurus GX4. Their manual recommends NOT carrying it with a round in the chamber. Then, they did have that safety recall. Taurus must do better!

I always carry in the pipe. My .380 was designed that way as well. In fact the safety on my CZ 83 cannot be engaged in double action.

I couldn't agree more! They've spent all that money on the gun and gun accessories, (4 holsters) now spend a little more and get some training. 👍🏻

I carry the Sig P238 X2 one in IWB holster and one in my left pocket. I know I'm weird three extra mags two on belt and one in right pocket the one left pocket with hammer down and safety on and the one in holster cocked and locked. These guns are identical, reliability is perfect and very accurate for a small handgun even at a distance. I love them. Just my 2 cents and I have done this for years this way with no problems at all

Carrying un chambered until the kid is older. A toddler Can fire a gun but not cock it. I will take the risk of time in an urgent situation (and train for it) over the kid somehow finding an opportunity to touch the gun if I mess up.
Risk mitigation around toddlers at the cost of more training and an unlikely scenario.

I agree. You should have seen me out there when I first got my gun and holster. Taurus G3 with a safety. And I use a sort of appendix carry. Talk about sweating bullets. Man I thought for sure I was going to shoot my nuts off. Turns out dry firing and drawing from the holster at home makes for confidence.

great video. i dont understand why some people refuse to carry with one in the chamber. I carry a modified glock 17 with no safety. I dont like carry gun to have a safety at all. I like to carry 2011s sometimes but with the grip safety pinned. Still has the thumb safety.

I carry with a round in the chamber and my safety is the first DA pull of my DA/SA firearm. H&K P30s

He's right, you need to train and no your limitations. Are you accurate at 3feet, 10feet etc. Dont shoot and hit bystanders.

ALWAYS one I the chamber. Sure, Mossad will carry with empty chambers, but they are extensively trained to chamber a round as the handgun is being drawn. Of course, you could carry a small S&W J-frame revolver, because most civilian DGUs are over jn 3 shots anyways. Then you’d always have one in the chamber.
