What a story. The piano scene was haunting as they crossed the river.

What a great actress, she brought Elsa to life and made her real. I can't believe she was killed off. She would have made a great spinoff and a great storyline. ❤😊

My grandfather was just 20 in 1883, watching what they went through makes me glad im living now! When i was a kid, my dad said he could remember when HE was young, and sometimes the Natives would kill a deer, for meat, and trade it for things they needed or wanted, like blankets, other food, metal things. This was in northern Wisconsin around 1910 or so!

About the hat…. It’s a Cowboy thing. People don’t get it, but Sam damn sure does!!

Montana was NOT the original destination. The Duttons settled in Montana so that Elsas mom could see her until she died, the mom that is.

1883 is my absolute favorite of all the Yellowstone series. 1923 the worst and Yellowstone itself second. I just felt that 1883 portrayed that era so well. I have so much respect the the folks that traveled west like that. Elsa was such a strong character and such a shame she died. This series could have gone on and have been more popular than Yellowstone!

I was just out in Montana, visited Bozeman, Big Sky, Yellowstone, and Pleasant Valley (Livingston). While there we started "1883, " and it brought the area to life.

I was never a big Western fan until this series.

The History, Love, Family, Exploration, Determination and Loss.

The most amazing American Western Series ever made!

More SAM and ELSA, Sam Elliot used to be my groups favorite. We did like the opening with him.
I am part Indian and like how you kept it real. Thank you!

I had the good fortune of speaking to Sam Elliott at a market of all places. Now I don’t bother actors and I have seen many over the years by chance. I am not in the business. But I did here with Elliott because I had seen him two yrs in a row. The year before in Carmel and here in Thousand Oaks, Ca. I told him all this and he was very receptive and put out his hand to shake surprising me. Before Covid. I laughed and shook his hand. Amusing moment. As I said he was very receptive and friendly.

The Ft. Worth Stockyards no longer looks like the pictures you see here. The whole historic area has now been Californicated and has been totally ruined. I was part of the last generation who grew up in the 50's and 60's that knew the stockyards for what they originally were. I feel fortunate to have been a part of that. I am also sickened by what this area has become.
