Region locking physical media is ridiculous.

It's really great for those of us who still support all aspects of physical media. My initial interest in a region-free player stemmed from a variety of TV titles that were only released in their entirety in the UK. Here in the US, far too many studios release the first season on Blu-ray and then abandon the rest. I have the LG and it also reliably plays any manufacture on demand or BD-R titles; region locked players should typically have no issues with BD-R discs, but it isn't unheard of.

I picked up a Region Free 4K player last week. It’s awesome to know that I’ve got the power to play pretty much anything on the planet now. Specifically that gorgeous Dawn of the Dead set.

I caved in and went region free about 10 years ago, when the 2 Demons movies came out blu ray from Arrow video. Those big box style releases they did for while are awesome. I'm glad I got the Dawn of the dead one, since it's hard to get now.

I am still an avid proponent of physical media and found this informative and useful.

I got that same LG player. The Sony while I’m sure is fantastic, was a little more expensive so the LG it was. No regrets.

I've been region free since the early 2000s, these players are worth every penny. You can also buy really nice bluray / dvd limited edition movies overseas that you can't get here in the US.

Did you have to set up your amazon region player to play 1=a, 2-b etc...or is it an automatic feature? Thank you.

Good info here. I appreciate the recommendation. I've used an external blu-ray drive and PowerDVD with my computer for years, mainly because I do everything from my pc. I've skipped a lot of other region titles because of it, but I think it's time for a dedicated tv/player.

Hi, I just recently purchased a SONY BDP-S1700 BluRay player. On the remote it has Red, Blue, Yellow and Green button, I assume those are for different region. However, when I put in one of the DVDs I purchased from Japan, it says "Playback Prohibited by Region Code" no matter which color button I pressed. Would you be able to help me on this, please? Many thanks!

Hey Piz, I just got a region-free blu-ray player the other day and have gotten a couple of things already, but I wanted to ask you, what are some of the best Region B & Region C releases you believe are ones I should seek out.

I had a question in regards to picture quality. How does the picture quality look on the 1080p player on your 4k tv? I’m torn between getting just a region free Blu ray player vs a 4k uhd region free player. I already have a Panasonic 4k player and I just want something for my region b movies.

I'm trying to unlock my LG BP350 that I just bought. I try to follow steps but the test mode screen do not appear. Could have been good to show us how you did. It would have been useful to many of us.

Obtaining an ALL-Region blu ray player is all in all very simple. First of all - just enquire that your retail store has them in stock, and finally choose a decent brand player. I live in Australia (I have a need for region "A" imports), and my player is named a "Laser All-Region Player". It performs very well and was very cheap.
