Can You Build Your Own Belt Driven Air Compressor Similar to the Keene KAC1? I Think So!

This is the latest in a series of videos I've made on this topic. I've created a playlist to add these too and will update it as the project progresses.

The Canadian dollar is worth just 0.73 USD at the time of posting this, so buying a pre-assembled Gas powered belt driven KAC1 from Keene would cost over $1700 Canadian before shipping.

The idea here is that an engine driven oil free air compressor like the T80 or the Keene KAC1 could be built out of a store bought ultra quiet air compressor that comes with an aluminum tank such as the California air tools 2010A compressor.

The compressor could be run straight from a small generator if you didn't need to pack it too far, or like in this video I am modifying it to run directly off a gas engine. I was planning on using the Honda GX50 or a similar clone as soon as I get the parts replaced on this one to get it back to running propperly.

Leave a comment if you have an helpful input, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks for watching everyone!

Utmost, you’re the best. You probably could have just worked minimum wage and bought a new one, but you helped out your fans with this instructional video. Bad time management = happy subscribers! Thanks for the morning video too! Where I liv it’s early afternoon.

Good work man it’s impressive to see you doing all that fabrication and so valuable to experiment. I’m excited for you to get your hooka working and to see where it takes you

This is great. I've been looking for something similar to this for adding compressed air to my work truck after being unhappy with a/c compressor conversions. Most air compressor heads I see online are much too big but this looks like it would fit perfectly, just needs a little fabrication for an electric clutch on the belt drive.

Just how long a snorkel can one use before you have to have compressed air. If you have a check valve in your mouthpiece, for exhaled air would you not get fresh air all the time. The top end the hose would have a floatation device that would always have the intake above water . It is great though you have a never give up never give in attitude

I'm getting the message that drilling the connecting rod ruined it - is this correct ?
Did you not also ruin the other connecting rod ?

DON'T BUY The idea is to me is to make something out of broken stuff with parts from other broken stuff you've acquired! Take a lawn mower engine that has good compression hooked up o a old 100+ lb. compressor tank and make it your garage air compressor capable of keeping up with 2 to 3 air tools running at the same time! That's my new project just need the gas motor got tank all valves rebuilt 1960 3 phase electric motor. YOU THINK I CAN? Can you?
