Out of the millions of viewers who watched this I bet less than 5% of them actually went on to do so. With that being said, don't fall into the trap of thinking you can't be the 5%. Anyone can with enough work & dedication.

Spends 2 years learning C and C++. Spend the next 5 years making a game engine. Spend another 5 years finishing your game, then wait as nobody plays it. Or use unreal or Unity.

It might sound a bit funny or ridiculous but roblox (yes the game for kids) can be an option. It won't compare with the other platforms in the video but it might be easier. Roblox uses lua for coding games and has its own system of building. If you sell items on your game or make it pay to play you can earn in game currency which can be transferred into irl money. Some people have made a lot of money this way. The con is that the game will indeed look blocky but it is supposed to be for beginners.

Some game developers will actually take you in as a junior artist, you just have to know where and how to look. Some companies will take you in without having several years of game development and shipped titles if you’re good enough. There’s a company in Orlando who will hire two junior artists for every senior they take in

I want to try to make a 2D pixel game called Darkness vs Light. I have an entire story thought out.

Edit: this comment has been getting a lot of replies lately, so I gotta tell y'all that DvL was the dream of a middle school kid with 0 experience. I started it, yes, made some progress, but not enough to call it playable. And now, working nearly 60 hours per week, family matters, bills, and all the other aspects of adulthood, its safe to say this game isn't gonna be coming true

Love how you completely skip the part where you learn coding and art design and just go onto game design

This video gives me a GONER.
That's a video game boner.
I made that up.
Seriously.
Check Urban Dictionary.
High-five!
no one?
Damn.
Opened my heart to you guys.
*Single salty tear gently rolls down cheek.
High-five now?
*Meekly raises hand for acceptance.
no one?
Sigh.
