Hello Matt. I enjoy your videos about chestnuts! I am also growing chestnuts close to my home where I can take really good care of them. In addition, I have planted many chestnuts grown from seed in tubes out on a small 8 acre patch about an hour from my home. These trees are on their own in nature and receive little or no care. I was wondering how your chestnuts planted on your farm in 2016 are doing these days? God bless, Russell Mountains of NC.

I would have just sliced a few slits and planted it. I just bought the 1gal plastic pots to $1.10each at Home Depot. Good luck on your success.

What type of soil media did you use in the pots? I have an order of dunstan chestnuts coming next week and not sure what type of soil to use.

I was thinking the bags were biodegradable, didnt know they lasted 5 years though.
The 12 month bags, I guess they start decaying as soon as you plabt in them or after you bury it?

Matt, how are the dunstan chestnut trees doing? I’m considering planting a few this spring.

Have these shown to be resistant? Any blight? Where did you get the seed?
