Beginners Guide to High Speed Sync Flash Photography

I have received a good number of questions regarding flash photography and more specifically ... what is high speed sync flash, how to use it, do I need it, etc. The overall goal is to keep a wide open aperture to capture nice blurred background and use flash for fill. In this video I provide a brief overview, demo, and a few thoughts which should be of some help:). I did not have the best weather for the demo but was to use flash at 1/1000th of second:).

Coming in to high speed sync not knowing anything about it, your simple note cards demo was excellent. I watched this video first, then about a dozen others on the topic and yours was the only one to actually explain what is going on and why the sync is needed. I know if I'd have only watched the other videos I would have walked away still wondering what high speed sync is and why it's needed. Just getting into this syncing buisness with my external flash, the flash itself is intimidating to me, so rarely use it. Your video was awesome, your a great instructor, and the flash cards were a very big help! I'm a visual person so they helped a great deal for me to understand the concept.
