Fix High Temperature Issues With SSD and Overheating NVME
Today we take a look at how to troubleshoot and a overheating ssd nvme drive. The drive was reaching over 100c and 80+ c at idle, which is not good for the drive. So I will show you a guide on fixing M.2 NVMe Drive overheating.

Life is so easy when we have creaters like you ❤️.

We are lucky to have you sir.

This is the first channel I have watched where the builder actually installs the chipset drivers. None before have installed them. I find them to be performance enhancing software in all of the builds I have completed.

Thank you so much!I'm planning to buy a NVME drive, and knowing all this beforehand is big help!If I happen to run to any issues, you saved me from alot of headache! Again thank you so much for all the help you shared with us!Keep going strong, wish you the best!

My PC used to shutdown without any warning. It wasn't temperature related. I tried EVERYTHING! It went away after firmware update on the ssd. Until that point I didn't even realised that ssds have a firmware.
But beware that updates are not always healthy. Always read carefully what you're installing. You can make things a lot worst while panicking looking for a solution. Bios updates for example can leave you PC dead, so do think 10 times through before you pull the trigger.

What is the heat difference between a mechanical hard drive, solid state drives and NVME drives?

Will keep this in mind since will get a M.2 next month for the first time and is a cheap one that might drive with problems similar to this (WD SN570 1tb)

I have two NVME's fitted, both with heatsinks. I wouldn't actually ever fit one without a heatsink. One is my C drive and the other my D, idling at 36 and 33c with a maximum of 47 and 45c.
I also always fit a chassis fan to blow over them, glue it into a position in the case if necessary....I can't stand heat in my system. Even that PCH of 75c in your video Britec, would be far too much for me, mine never goes above 50, even when gaming....again, I have a chassis fan blowing over it.
Great video, I never see anyone covering this issue, NVME's are great but they should never go above 60c in my opinion, not if you value your data.

Looking at one that was getting hot today, and the problem I think is the placement of the M2 on the motherboard, right next to the cpu heatsink on one side, and the video card on the other. I think we're better off getting a sata ssd, and at least it can be placed in drive bay.

Crucial P5 NVMe. I downloaded their Micron driver, enabled Momentum Cache in their Executive suite. . The increase in performance was amazing with max temp at 50 C. (I have a Online UPS so ok with battery backup). I also removed the sticker/decal on the chipset side for better contact with the heat sink.

Great information about hot Solid State Hard drives Brian. Thank you. May we please have some Microsoft Office 2021 videos? Office Suite 2021 will be released on October 5th, 2021 along with the Windows 11 release.

Mine isn't displaying IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and I have ssd heat issues, know of a way to fix it?

You was looking at the wrong temps when you went back to check it's the temp underneath the one you was looking at. I've got the same drive it's known for running hot. After the fix you didn't show the temp for the drive so I'm guessing the fix didn't work as I know it doesn't.

First temp you look at is "S.M.A.R.T CT1000P5S..." and second time you look at "Acer Aspire XC-886(DCH..."
So first you show SSD temps and then you show motherboard temps. Maybe it's just a mistake on your side, but this video is not showing any proof of fixes.

What is the normal operating temperature for a solid state drive-in Fahrenheit the only one I know in Celsius off the top of my head is 100゚C equals 212゚F which is hot enough to boil water
