I Wore a CGM. Here's What I Learned about My Blood Sugar (NON-Diabetic)

CGM, continuous glucose monitor, continually monitors your glucose (or sugar) levels.

If you have diabetes, you may already use a CGM because they replace the finger pricks. If you're not diabetic, like me, a CGM can teach you so much about how your unique body is handling your lifestyle choices and the foods you eat. No more guesswork, lots of fun revelations. Let's go over what I learned and how Levels makes it possible for everyone, including you, to get one.

I started using the Levels CGM 10 days ago. It brings so much insight on what spikes glucose and what foods maintain a level glucose. This is money well spent.

These should be made available easily to most anyone who has concerns about their pre diabetes I will absolutely look into this!

I had a problem with sleep for years as well until I started eating a brazil nut at the end of my last meal. It's been 2 weeks and I sleep sound. When i get up to go pee (which most people do) I return to bed and fall back into sleep faster. Brazil nuts are high in selenium, which helps your body produce it's own melatonin. It's the most effective supplement I've taken for sleep enhancement so far. I hope this advice helps you or someone else.

I had to change to a low carb lifestyle for my A1C to finally drop below 5.7. Keeping my carbs below 50 per day made Huge differences in my life. I lost 75 lbs this year, andI've never felt better with more energy (even in my 20s or 30s).

Would've liked to hear about which foods were giving you trouble (that you thought were healthy), and how you addressed them 🎉

I need to look into this. Anytime I have accurate metrics in front of me, it motivates me to take action.

Levels is ground breaking but just out of the budget for most people. Income average in the U.S. is between $59, 428 and $63, 795. So unless you are diabetic and can get insurance coverage it’s likely to remain an option for the wealthier population.

YES!!!! I did this a month ago and have gotten my husband and daughter to wear one. You don't know what you don't know until you do! Sticking to Keto-Vore now. Less than 20 grams of Carbs. Have noticed even when eating "approved" plant based items, I don't feel good, my throat constricts and I feel bloated. So glad you are doing this, too.

These kinds of videos are the best. Most people will get bad readings because of years of insulin resistance.

This was the perfect video for my husband. He's an athletic 65 y.o. guy. They heard a murmur at a physical 2 years ago. That led to a diagnosis of mitral valve dysfunction and bypass surgery for a widow-maker type of blockage. He has been told he is pre diabetic even though he watches his intake of sugars. I've asked him to watch this video. I'm sure we will be looking into the cost to see just how expensive it is because it might just be the thing he needs. Please follow up on this topic.

I use CGM for a while now and I found out there not very accurate at times. pricking your finger is still the better way to get an honest reading on your blood glucose

Your videos are great. Keep it up! I was also surprised to hear you had a heart attack. Sounds to me like the sleep issue of 25+ years is negating a lot of the good other stuff. I go to bed at 8-9 and am up at 5-6. I’m 48 and 225lbs. No medication, normal BP, normal A1C. No alcohol or drugs. I cycle and walk and it’s enough to keep me healthier than 99% of my jacked skinny friends in the same age group. I’ve always been very athletic and have exercised regardless of weight for my entire life. I consider myself athletic and healthy. Excuse me, I mean I identify as such. I check my fasting glucose at home and it’s pretty low. All of this sucks more as you get older however. Age is the biggest variable IMO as our joints wear out regardless of how healthy you are. You don’t realize age until you start to feel it, which for me was at age 45.

My last doctor said I needed to actually have diabetes before a CGM could be prescribed. I had just reduced my A1c from 5.8 to 5.6. I told my my current doctor that I wanted to get my A1c to a lower level and if I could get a fasting glucose and fasting insulin tested to calculate my HOMA-IR. He said that was unnecessary as my A1c was fine.

He also took my blood pressure by holding up my arm between his arm and his hip rather than resting it on a table. Not surprisingly it was high and made a note about me being hypertensive.

For anyone that’s interested, I followed a low carb diet of under about about 50 grams of net carbs daily (never actually measured it out). My HDL went to 70 (all my life I struggled to get it over 30) and my triglycerides went down to 80. Several years ago, a doctor saw that my triglycerides were near 200 and asked if I ate a lot of fatty meat. At the time, I followed the food pyramid and avoided fatty meat but plnty of carbs and drank skim milk. Now I most certainly doneat fatty meat.

I have lost most of my faith in doctors and the medical establishment.

Thank you so much for this advice. I am slim and thought I was eating healthily and don’t drink alcohol but have been told I have a fatty liver! I have completely changed now eating low carb no sugar. Thanks for you videos x❤
