Enigmatic Nub at Machu Picchu w/ Drill Hole?

preview_player
Показать описание
Check out this enigmatic nub located deep inside the megalithic core of Machu Picchu. Made of extremely hard white granite, this nub features what appears to be a tapered drill hole. What do you think was the intended purpose for this nub, & how was it made? Notice again the two distinctly different construction styles seen here - the larger megalithic mortarless white granite on bottom & the smaller rough stone & mortar stone above.

I think ancient people built this stuff with a concrete that we have just lost the knowledge on how to replicate it🤔

For all we know
The civilization that built this died out before this place was covered by ocean, then covered by Forests and reinhabited by later descendants of man

That is not a NUB .
That was intentional.
It served a purpose.
The Beings that built thease things did not waste time with mistakes

My thought is that ‘nub’ could have been used to hold beams in place like scaffolding so that people could work on higher levels. You can see examples of medieval engineers using this technique to build high stone towers, and the weight/size of these stones mean they would have needed to be guided in carefully.

Could be part of the process in lifting these blocks. Most of those "nubs" get removed upon installation, but that one didn't. Lots of other blocks have these "nubs", but that is the first one with a clearly defined drilled hole. Be perfect for running a rope through!

Sculpted markings, "puffy" rock ? Clearly soft and gradually petrified, like concrete.

When holes are drilled in a cone. It’s typically for a rope knot to fit and the rest of the rope to exit. I’m thinking this hike was for lifting or even for an anchor point.

The more I see these stubs or knobs protruding the more it looks like cast molding. That would also explain how they were able to get perfect shapes with straight edges that are almost seamless when stacked. It would also be easier to quarry loose materials up the Nile river to create building blocks for the pyramids than to cut, shape, and transport. And if you created the stones close to the pyramid with either molten earth or using a cement there would be no reason for a mile long ramp and thousands of workers pulling several ton stones into place. Would also help with time allotted for cutting, transporting, lifting, and setting into place. With a mold you could create an assembly line where a stone could be produced every few min.

The nub enigma will forever remain unsolved.

Could've been used to hold something or perhaps it's a connecting piece of some kind. You know in the ancient Indian temples are like leggos, made from thousands of interlocking pieces and no mortar.

I'm no great historian. Neither am I an architect nor archaeologist. However it occurs to me that if you slipped a long piece of leather or rope through the hole it would make a badass handle. Yes/ No you tell me?

And it looks to be bigger in the bottom than on top... like maybe something locked into place for transportation

Pine tar resin or something, maybe like a creosote, I guess maybe vines could be woven into a rope as they do for River crossing, if concrete was used, hole was in already and it was fitted carefully as the steps to King Hui, Kings high, and the quarry is inside and uphill from Machu Picchu. I know that many sites around the known plateau isn't even close to the extent of the original expansion and you have to free climb, ascend from above on a rope or get in through the clouds and falls and hidden doors in the sides of cliffs and terraces.
