Man in custody after accidentally shooting himself, 3 others inside Lovejoy Walmart: police

A man is in Clayton County Jail after police said he triggered a bizarre sequence of events. When it ended, he had accidentally shot himself, along with three other customers inside a busy Walmart, all with a single bullet.

Question: why wasn’t he arrested?
Since when is discharging a weapon in public, legal?
There aren’t “accidental” discharges . It was negligent - in public- and innocent bystanders were injured . “Faces Reckless conduct charges”? doesn’t mean he was charged .

Legal concealed carriers are usually extremely safe. As officer said, 14 years and never heard of this happening. Should've had an inner waistband holster

I like that this story was covered in a reasonable, balanced way that covers the rules of responsible conceal carry that the guy broke. Also, thanks for touching on the fact that hollow points are a safer conceal carry round because less over penetration

I am assuming by the charge he was a legal gun owner but it would have been good journalism if they had verified that. I personally do not know anyone that carries their weapon in their waistband without a waistband holder. Except for criminals.

It seems to me that the bullet fragmented into multiple smaller pieces and hit others rather than a single bullet bouncing around intact.

Happened at our Walmart last spring. Off duty deputy dropped his and it went off. Hit the ceiling.

Makes no sense to NOT use a holster and it makes no sense to use full metal jacket for defense, in your home or in public.
