You know, I've been watching "The Entire History of the Universe" channel, and people comment that they're "just as good as professional documentaries on TV".... I think they haven't watched tv in a while, because their level of detail goes so, so much deeper while still being understandable to the layperson.

The universe is like a rubber band that’s being pulled in every direction simultaneously. At some point the potential energy will overcome the kinetic and the entire thing will collapse. This near instantaneous implosion is what we have been calling a big bang. The entire process repeats.

not sure why it is so hard for people to visualise the birth of the universe not being an explosion at all, but rather a sudden and massive phase change of an introduced energy/substance into the middle of the vacuum of nothing.

is it dark matter pushing us apart or the post phase change material trying to spread out and evenly distribute itself.
